We can save and control this money by providing a proper solution to this problem. As we know, most people don’t have to reach the hospital on time and they wait till the severe back pain. Our proposed system will provide a way through which it will be possible to timely monitor the back posture to avoid such difficulties. The proposed system is based on the Internet of things which is explained in the above section. IoT based Smart Posture Detector(SPD) detects back posture and accordingly warns the user, in case, if it is a bad, good or normal posture. The position of the posture is displayed on the mobile phone device and constantly reminding the users to correct their posture. The currently available systems are very expensive and this limits their usage on a wider scale, whereas, the SPD is a very economical and robust solution to the problem. According to studies “Posture is the position in which a person holds their body upright against gravity when standing, sitting or walking”. According to Stanford Health News, ’posture’ is defined as the way your muscles and skeleton hold the body erect. In a series of papers in ”The Lancet”, it was registered that 540 million people across the world suffer from lower back pain. This concludes the severity of back pain. Although
the effect is mainly on the lower region of the spinal cord, various issues have started to cause chronic pain in the lower middle and neck regions of the body. Back pains are usually periodic and do not last long. However, they occur very frequently and can have a huge impact on the body in the long run. Negligence towards maintaining a good posture can cause several life-threatening conditions such as shoulder, back pains, reduced lung function, gastrointestinal pains, scoliosis, postural syndrome, etc.
The proposed system has many objectives in which the main objective of this system is to efficiently solve the problem of posture. And to detect the posture on time so that anyone can take advantage of it. This system will be more accurate and efficient and less expensive. this system will overcome the said challenges and implements an optimized approach for posture detection which helps the user maintain a healthy posture. with the growing year and modern world, everyone tries hard work and make themselves
Project Implementation MethodImplementation of SPD consists of Arduino UNO, Arduino Mega, LEDs, multiple sensors like the sensors used and their applications are An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor MPU9250 whose inbuilt accelerometer is used to detect the relative spinal position of the user, An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor MPU9250 whose inbuilt accelerometer is used to detect the relative spinal position of the user and an android application for the notifications. a pressure sensor too for measuring the pressure of the person. the functionality of adding this smart posture wearable device for the laborers too. due to the finance and new technologies with high selling rate the poor people can't afford this type of technologies and wearables for their health its a hope that the system could be used by anyone one making it such compact and cost-effective so that everyone could by but for the start we need some devices spare for testing that the reason we have extra cost on devices and sensors that will be used by us. Our Proposed system is designed as a compact device both wearable and can be attached to the chair too. Cost efficiency is for the laborers the truck drivers because they do a tough job in severe environments.
Benefits of the ProjectWith the passage of time, the way people lead their lives are changing and transforming due to growing technology. An enormous increase in the lifestyle of the modern world has been brought about by industrialization and urbanization. One of the dangerous effects of urbanization has been the in-
crease in the duration of time a person is seated. This results in them not having a good posture. Bad posture and back pains have been found to be one of the leading reasons for doctor visits. It is said that back pain is the third most common reason for people to visit the doctor. Therefore, knowingly or unknowingly, people compromise on one of the most essential traits of what makes them human; the ability to walk upright. The consequences of a prolonged bad posture greatly affect the day-to-day activities and have paved its path to work-life as well. It is often said that back pain is a common reason for a day off at work.
In our project, we need the components such as Arduino, Arduino IDE, and an android application that will help the user to maintain a healthy posture and make necessary treatments to his back. We have used an accelerometer and a pressure sensor as well to sense both the data of the user in every condition to fully gain the required data. After sensing the data a buzzer will be on and will show some notification to the user about his wrong posture and make it right suggestion will be sent to the user. In the final deliverable the system is supposed to sense the back posture movement and through both the sensor the sense data will be calculated with the threshold set with the perfect posture and the wrong posture, it will be sent a notification to the user and will ring a buzzer too for anappropriate posture.. In the future goal we are proposing to add extra functionality to the system by connecting the sensor data with the seat belt and the car ignition system so if the user has the wrong posture or doesn't wear the seat belt the alarm will be runged and the data will send the notification resulting the car ignition will not allow the user to start the car unless he makes his posture right according to the required threshold being set in the posture detector.
