IoT based smart farm
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe propose of the proposed project (IoT-based Smart Farm) is to automate and manage the activities of dairy farm. There are some existing systems but they are not automated, they do not interact with other hardware (milk quality measure device, milk quantity measure sensors, temperature sensors etc.). Our project will solve these problems by using sensors and devices that will tell the quality of milk, quantity of milk and temperature of cows. Health of every cow, their feed, sale of their milk, expenses and payments will also be manage. Reports and analytics will also entertain by our system. Our system will provide five users to directly interact with the system i.e., farm owner, manager/s, doctor/s, caretakers, and customers. Objectives that we can achieve by our proposed project are to decrease the effort of owner, manager/s, doctor/s and caretakers, increase the milk production of cows, improve the health of cows, help in improving the quality of milk, to control the overall farm expenses and to provide healthy environment for cows. Significance of our project is to increase the investment towards this field with the help of technology that will ease the investors/farm owners. So that they can invest which will increase the number of dairy farms and fulfills the need/demand of milk.
Project ObjectivesBO-1: Reduce the effort of dairy farm owner.
BO-2: Increase the production of milk of cows.
BO-3: Improve the health of cows.
BO-4: Save dairy farm owner’s time.
BO-5: Decrease the workload of owner, manager/s, doctor/s and caretakers.
BO-6: Improve the quality of milk.
BO-7: Control the overall farm’s expenses.
BO-8: Automate the system.
To resolve all the above problems and increase the productivity of milk and care of cows, we will develop an IoT based system called IoT based Smart Farm. The proposed system will allow owner and manager/s to view the overall progress of their farm. The system identifies the cow by the tag fixed on its ear. Manager/s will be able to manage all cows, feed, caretakers, doctor/s and customers. Manager and doctors will manage the health of cow. Doctors will maintain the records of medicines and vaccines of each unhealthy cow. He can create timetable of medicines and vaccines for unhealthy cows. He can also notify the caretakers to give medicine/vaccine to the specific cow. Temperature of cows will be measured by temperature sensor that will be on the ear of every cow and that will send the temperature to the system. Managers and doctors will also be able to view all unhealthy cows and temperature of every cow so that necessary measures can be taken if cows are ill. Manager will get feed update when the feed will be less than the certain amount so that they can buy more and add to the system. He will also be able to check the treatment’s timetable, whether the treatment to unhealthy cows is given or not by caretakers or doctors.
caretakers can view the health of cows, which cow is ill so that they can give medicines and vaccines to them prescribed by doctors. caretakers will also be able to view the daily average feed of cows they have to give them. System will automatically save the milk quantity of each cow through the sensor which will be in milking machine so there will be no need to enter the quantity manually. Quality sensor will also be used in milk tank to measure contents ratio of the milk. Manager and owner will manage all expenses related to medicines, vaccines, feed and also sales of milk so that overall profit can be computed by the system. Payments of doctor/s, manger/s and caretakers will manage by owner. Vendors information will also manage by managers in the system. Owner and manager/s will also be able to see analytics and generate reports of cows, their health, sales, production of milk and feed. Customers interface in the system will also entertain the customers so their purchase of milk and billing will be managed. All users that may be owner, manager/s, doctor/s, caretakers and customers will get their respective notifications so that they may be updated.
