According to world health organization 1.35 million people die each year on the world’s roads.[1] Some people lost their life because of late rescue and in some cases accident victim don’t know about exact location for share to emergency contacts.
With the increase in the number of vehicles, the associated theft has increased dramatically. Every year there are more than 10 million stolen cars worldwide and most are untracked.[2] Criminals are on the rise day by day we are smart and we have reached the end point against existing car safety programs. Stolen cars and bicycles are often used in serious cases leading to property damage, physical injuries., and loss of life after an accident. In recent years car theft has become a major problem that needs to be tracked. Car safety and security are important.
The human life is very valuable and as well safety and security of vehicle is crucial. There are many existing systems but they have some limitation. So, we are going to implement that reduce human deaths by rescuing fast as soon as possible. And as well protect vehicle from theft.
Project ObjectivesObjective
To safe humans’ life and vehicle from theft, “IoT Based Smart Vehicle Accident Detection and Theft Detection” is implemented. IoT circuit is developed which consist of accelerometer, GPS sensor, GSM module, Bluetooth and Arduino board. Android application is developed which is getting data from IoT circuit through Bluetooth. Android app display the notification alert of theft. After detect accident message alert will send to hospital, concern organization (Rescue 1122), family member.
Android application
Android application is designed for user interaction that will display data to the user and notify about the theft. Android application receive data from the IoT circuit using Bluetooth and displaying it.
IoT Circuit
IoT circuit consist of different type sensor and every sensor has used for different type of purpose like, Accelerometer for collision, Bluetooth for communication GPS for tracking location etc.
Micro-controller
Microcontroller is a small computer which is used for control the different sensors or devices. It’s is used for control feature and actions of different devices. We store our code inside microcontroller which take decision.
Alert System
Wherever accident detect alert is send to the hospital, concern organization (Rescue 1122), and mention family member via GSM module.
Project Implementation MethodCar accident detection
Following sensors: jerk sensor, accelerometer and presure sensor are directly connected to the main arduino ATMEGA 2560 board and it gives values to board continously. when the threshold(defined in algorithm) is crossed by the input values taken from these sensors, system sends a notification directly to concerned authority(RESCUE 1122 in our case) through GSM module. the message contains the information like registered car number, latitude & longitude of the current location, the concerned authorities then takes action accordingly.
Theft detection
Microcontroller board also reads the engin status when the security switch is powered ON. the user has to switch ON the security switch before parking the car, when mmicrocontroller board gets the value positve after a security switched ON, the system sends an allert message to the user mobile phone, the user application reads the message of thefting the car and an alarm type sound is given to the user plus location of the car is shown in user app.
Benefits of the ProjectProblem statement
Currently many companies are working to reduce vehicle accident to safe humans’ life. Whenever an accident occurs, there should a system to notify someone for rescuing. There is a chance that no one near the scene of the accident and victim does not able to call someone or victim doesn’t know about the location. Vehicle theft is increasing day by day. Car safety has achieved many rapid changes but the cost of safety projects is very high and unbearable for all owners. So, we are going to implement this project to cover these two problems.
Scope
Presently we are this project is implemented for cities area. The target of this system is covering all roads where the mobile phone signals are available. Currently, this system is for notify the about the accident and theft. Our mission is to notify the driver before accident happening according to sensors data. As well we are looking to analyze the accident data to identifying the highly rate accident roads, reasons and time of accidents.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThis is an IoT based Project, So two main things are to be done in which we will make sure to reduce the cost of hardware and make the system more efficient to work. system efficiency will be measured later in the testing phase.
(1) Hardware Implementation
in Hardware implementation we are using Arduino ATMEGA2560 which is a powerfull board having more capacity in a sense of memory and I/O pins. 1st three milestones are based on hardware implementation and a little documentation. all the hardware work will be done in this period of time.
(2) Software Implementation
Software implementation will be done in the 4th mileston, the software will inform the user when the system calls him for a theft is detected, a live location of the car will be shown in maps so that user can easily track his/her car.
after that we will have a testing phase in which we will measure the efficiency factor of the prototype, also we will provide the solution how to increase the efficiency and reduce the cost.
