Project Summary

The Project is a solution to one of the ignored and hidden problems in the agriculture field, especially in Pakistan. Pakistan is agricultural land with a lot of fertile fields producing grains, fruits, and food items for its population since came into being.

The methods employed in the agricultural process include seeding, plowing, irrigation, harvesting, pesticide spray, and weeding. In Pakistan, almost all of the methods are being performed using human labor. The farmers spend full days in the field performing these tasks which is time taking and tedious as well.

The lack of technology is the problem here. Using the modern technology and state of the art mechanism in the technical field can reduce the efforts and time in the field and can be helpful in the ultimate yield capacity of the country.

The goal of this project to introduce an automation process in horticulture. Tasks like irrigation, spray, and field monitoring will be automated. A prototype robot will be designed and manufactured that will be capable of moving across the field and collect its parameters.

A prototype field will be developed and different sensors capable of sensing the environmental parameters will be installed in the field. Each sensor will communicate with a control unit.

A remote IoT end will be set up that will collect the sensor data to monitor the environment. Upon the collected values, thresholds will be compared and the necessary calls of action will be triggerred.

For example, the Need for irrigation on the input by soil moisture sensor, need to neutralize the field on the input of the PH sensor.

Separate irrigation set up will be there that will be operated using motor control and having its separate control operable via IoT. If there is a need to irrigate the field, initiation, and termination of the irrigation process will be done by IoT signal.

The Robot body will be an aluminum structure with 2x1x2 size (feet) and having 4 tires, capable of moving in the mud and wet field. The structure will contain the Main control Unit, IoT controller, Power Source, Motor drivers, and sensor receivers.

A small tank is installed on the body of the robot that will be utilized for the pesticide spray at a scheduled time.

Following is the summary of the stated description.
1- Monitoring the environmental parameters including soil moisture, water level, humidity, and temperature.
3- Automatic Irrigation process.
4- A scheduled pesticide spray
5- All processes will be controlled by IoT

Project Objectives

The objective of this project is as follow:
1. Designing and building of autonomous prototype robot.
2. Designing Hardware modules for sensing of parameters.
3. Setting up irrigation prototype infrastructure and control.
4. Setting up pesticide spray control
5. Setting up an IoT based controlling system

Project Implementation Method

The project will be implemented in the following phases.

1- Setting and designing of Prototype robot structure.

2- Designing, interfacing, and testing of Sensor module units.

3- Setting up hardware and software processes for the automatic irrigation process.

4- Setting up hardware and software processes for the pesticides

5- Setting up IoT channel and interfacing of all the modules.

6- Integration and testing

1- A novel method of irrigation process using IoT.

2- A new and improved way of Pesticide spraying.

3- The monitoring of the soil's nature can help the farmer look after the growth of crops.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The project will have the following technical deliverable.

1- An autonomous robot of 2x1x2 size.

2- A remote IoT setup capable of monitoring and controlling the environment and all the modules.

3- An automatic irrigation process controlled by IoT.

4- A Scheduled spray of pesticide to protect the crops.

5- A prototype field for the demonstration of the work.
