Major harm is caused, if gas leakage is not detected early. That’s why we are going to design an IOT based gas leakage detector which will detect the gas leakage using the MQ5 gas sensor. Such IOT as well as Arduino based gas leakage detector systems can be installed in homes, hotels LPG gas storage areas. In this IOT gas leakage detector project, we propose to develop a model of such a system where every sensor and appliance is connected to the internet (WIFI) and the minimum and maximum parameter can be set accordingly. If successfully built, this wouldn't only enable the use of IoT technologies but also let the homeowner to monitor and control gas leakage from anywhere through internet. The LPG gas detector system senses the LPG gas using MQ5 gas sensor. This device will continuously monitor the level of LPG gas present in the air. While monitoring, if the value of LPG gas in air is within the set limit then the RGB LED on the circuit will glow green giving a safe sign. And whenever the gas exceeds above the predefined limit than the RGB LED will glow red and simultaneously solenoid value will turn off and update it over IOT. This Arduino and IOT project will help in detecting gas leakage in the surrounding.
Project Objectives- With this project, we plan to achieve the following objectives.
- User can monitor data of gas availability and strength using MQ5 gas sensor
- Various gas, temperature, light and humidity sensors will send data to cloud server
- Cloud server runs algorithm to detect gas leakage using the sensor data
- Automated Stoves and heaters will be controlled by commands form cloud server
- User can control gas related appliance like heater, stove etc, manually by connecting to internet and in case of internet connectivity failure, system automatically switches to manual mode
For the implementation of this model we have to make set by by attaching capacitors, and resistors on Arduino then by acttaching gas MQ5 sensor, and display LED, DC fan, Buzzers, push Button and LED bulbs.

This IOT based gas leakage detection model can be used in any area of field including houses, factories, hotels, industries, and mainly in gas storage compartments. The end user just simply have to access the app that will connect him with this gas leakage model as well as he can set the parameters of app by his own according to his need. When the level of gas exceeds the range limit setted by the end user, the greeen light of detector with turn into red signaling the alarm buzzer to start.
