HOME ElECTRIC LOAD MANAGEMENT AND SCHEDULING

Smart Home load are electronic measurement devices used by utilities to communicate information about load consumptions to the customers so they will also know that which load is consuming more energy and which is not, its like comparison of loads. It is simply consisting of a measuring unit and a communication interface between the load usage and the utility. The WIFI interface module is connected to the arduino to transmit and receive information between the utility and the load unit installed in the house.

This is IOT based smart home electric management device which will calculate the each and every load energy on daily, weekly and monthly basis .It will also do scheduling of load. Loads will be remotely accessible from anywhere of the world until and unless the user have internet access.

For the protection purpose our system will assign voltage and current limits for individual appliances, voltage source will be given and maintain strictly. This does not only saves our electric appliances but also overcomes the dangers of accidents of electric fire or other accidents due to electric short circuit. Users does not understand which load is consuming more energy or how much energy my all loads are consuming or consumed so it will generate pop up message.

With our system we will be able to know the energy used by our individual appliances, the information about which in the conventional electromechanical energy meters is not given and also have a great contribution in dissipation of energy they are also post-paid meters, customers cannot keep track of their energy consumption, except on a monthly basis while our system will provide information about energy consumption not only on monthly basis but daily and weekly basis.

Project Objectives

Overcomes the problems, the problems stated above will be solved by the system we are proposing, which are discuss below

Show Individual load Consumption, Our system will be able to show daily and weekly load consumption for individual load. Which will gives us a lot of information about our loads and we will be able to manage our loads on these data ie when to turn on or off any load or replace any device with other one.

Remote controlling of load, Our system will be able to control the loads remotely. So if someone forgot any of their devices to turn off so they can turn off their devices remotely as long as they have internet access. Or we can turn on any load remotely too if needed.

Scheduling of load, Our system will be able to schedule loads for any time table enter for any load. It will greatly helps us in saving our consumption energy plus automatic loads on and off.

For Protection purpose we will define voltage and current limits for our appliances and the supply voltage will be cutoff when the voltage and current are either above or below our define limits

For notification about our loads we will generate alert message through our android app when energy consumption limits are reached but if we are able to build an app, building an app consumes a lot of resources so this will be our additional task, may be we build our app with the help of some developer if we can affor

Project Implementation Method

4.1 Simulation

The first step is to design the whole sketch of work on computer design simulation (Proteus) to check whether the desired results can be obtain or not by simulation. Simulation is a process of creating a model of a proposed system in order to identify and understand those factors which control the system and to predict the future behavior of the system.

Assume the conditions that system has to face the reality, Input data and check the output results. Then match the differences between theoretical and computer output. This will give you a clear idea that how much your system is working according to your design and input data. It will help a lot to predict the efficiency of design and cost effective management scheme. Simulation in Proteus of Smart Home Energy Monitoring and Management System as shown in figure 14.

Benefits of the Project

The designed project is a prototype, so that it can show the idea that can be implemented and it will be very effective in order to reduce load shedding. The benefits of the designed system can be categorized as; utility company side and domestic costumer side. That is because both sides are connected by our designed system and both sides will get benefit due to this system.

On the utility company side as we discussed earlier that in peak hours they have to generate more power for that they will operate extra generators in order to overcome the load shedding. So the extra generations of power needs generators, fuel, man power and maintenance etc. This becomes very expensive for the company, but our system removes the peak hours then there will be no load shedding and no need of extra generators.

The system is designed in such a way that during peak hours the unit prices are expensive. So if anyone uses heavy loads during peak hours, their electricity bill will be raise up. Form this utility company will receive more capital.

Now on the domestic costumer side firstly the major benefit is there will be no load shedding or it will be reduced effectively. Secondly the designed system will get the tariff and then operate the load according to that tariff. It means during expensive time period the system will shut down the heavy loads so the electricity bill will be in nominal payable range of the costumer.

Another great feature of this system is that there is an auto and manual mode in the system as discussed earlier, so a costumer is not bound to be operate by the auto mode only, the load can be controlled manually.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Employing the home management system enrich energy saving without adding expensive equipment. In countries like Pakistan and many other countries, conventional national grid is still being used without any ability to control the consumer’s home appliances. The proposed SHEMMS helps to provide a suitable method to add an adaptive method for saving energy. The system was designed by using the most contemporary and cheap technology with a simple architecture.. The objective on which we have been working on is fully achieved. It is in working condition and ready to be installed to serve its purpose. This project is done for the energy distribution and automation which will completely utilize its potential for the bigger goals in future. The concept is unique and has been worked out for the past decade. With the passage of time progress is going on and one day it will become a common and essential thing which will be used in routine. It suggests that in life some rules and regulations are necessary. Even we pay any attention or not, it should be followed. The purpose could serve only by this project.
