Domestic water wastage is making a huge portion of water scarcity, different techniques are in used to save water as much as possible. This prototype IOT based domestic water supply management system enables the home automation factor. This project works on the phenomenon in which 12 rain sensor measures or defines the Water level in the tanks. Which then forward the Signals to the Arduino and Arduino displays the Measurement in the LCD and the same data is sent to the cloud server, an android application hold the complete data of tanks and allows its users to switch on or off the motor, automatic pumping of water from ground tank to overhead tanks is done using relay module which then runs the motor. At certain limit the motor will stop running and avoid the overflow or wastage of water. The water flow sensor is used to measure the flow of water for equal distribution of charges, a solenoid valve with ultrasonic sensor will stop the wastage of water from tabs and vice versa. For the Lower tank if the Water level is below 15 per-cent then Arduino will not enable the relay and avoids the no load motor running and save electricity.
Project Objectives- To collect water level data using water sensors and displaying it on mobile device via an Android application.
- To ensure automatic controlling of motor for water pumping.
- To minimize water waste using sensors which permits water flow.
- To ensure reduction of human effort and time.
- To ensure equal distribution of charges according to water used, measured through water flow sensors
- To avoid water wastage from tabs using ultrasonic sensor and solenoid valves.
In this prototype project the controller used is Arduino, the arduino will collect the information of water level in tanks, flow rate and distance sent from rain sensors, flow sensor and ultrasonic sensors respectively.
the arduino is programmed in such a way that it checks certain conditions to swaitch on or off the motor for water pumping from ground tank to overhead tanks.
the level of water in ground tank should be greater than 15% and of overhead tank less than 80% of tank capacity in order to run the motor, and if any of these conditions does not met the motor will not operate.
the flow sensor will measure the flow rate using simple formula of speed upon time, the time can be adjusted in hours, minutes or even seconds, here minutes is used as standard unit and the charges will be calculated according to lliters of water deliever to particular tank.
to avoid water wastage from the tabs ultrasonic sensor will detect the movemoent using transmitter and reciever and calculate the distance if measured distance is less than 10cm the signal will be sent to arduino to permit water flow from soleniod valve.
the whole data measured by the sensors and collected by arduino is then sent to the cloud server which is then reached by using android application, the user can monitor all the data on its mobile and is allowed to run the motor if he needed or can stop it too, his/her bill is also calculated acoodring to the water deliver to the tank and they can check it on the android app.
