IoT Based AmazonGo Smart Cart System Using RFID Technology
At present, we are carrying out the process of billing in malls and shopping marts with the help of barcode scanner. The customer scans the product through the barcode scanner. This is to be a slow process and Customer has to wait for long queues. To avoid that, we want to replace the existing method with a fast and smart new technology developed in recent years. We propose to improve the existing tiresome process of billing by replacing the barcode scanner with RFID Smart System. The framework is such that all the trollies or shopping carts are installed with a RFID Reader while all the items in the mall or mart have an RFID Tag. To verify the Information put away in framework's memory that is contrasted with the database, we use a YOLOv3 technology. In the events where matches are discovered data is sent to RaspberryPi 3 for comparison, at that point; cost and name of individual item gets showed on the users interface (A webpage or App). In the meantime ESP Wifi module sends the similar data to PC on billing counter. Thus, while the customer shops his bill is automatically being updated saving ample time; the customer has the ease of managing their budget, easy navigation of any products’ location using the options available in user interface, on a whole an optimum shopping experience.
| Existing System | Proposed System |
| Manual billing | Automated billing |
| Use of barcode system | Use of RFID system |
| More man power required to operate the system | Little to none man power needed to operate the system |
| Difficult to keep track of a product | Easy to locate or track the product |
| Fetching product information is difficult and time consuming | Getting product information is easy and time efficient |
| Customer can’t view the bill on spot | LCD display will show the bill on spot throughout the shopping |

The most important objective of IoT is to monitor individual objects and environment wirelessly. This introduces RFID tags attached to individual objects. When these tags come in the range of reader it reads the stored information of object wirelessly which is known as RFID technology. RFID plays an integral role in the applications of IoT. Passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology will be used in the replacement of previously used barcodes. The RFID reader will send the information of the product to the Raspberry Pi 3 that will compare the received information with the already stored data and will display the total amount on an android application based on a user-friendly and attractive display is attached to the shopping cart connected with the system. An application will be developed that will consist of the following features;
1. Product Price & Billing
2. Product’s rating
3. Budget Focused Shopping
4. Product Location
5. Smart Payment via Debit Card/ Credit Card
The project will be implemented in four phases;
The Internet of Things is a technology that connects various objects in a network and is milestone in the era of the smart world. The smart shopping cart features these technology enabling users to shop efficiently. The proposed framework is reliable and time-viable, providing high revenue. The automated replacement of barcodes will not just avoid recruiting staff trainers also; customers will get throughout information at the time of shopping, can guess the exact amount at the time of shopping, and will be also freeing staff of repetitive checkouts. Over all the system will ensure that the customers will have best shopping spree. The proposed system can easily be implemented in real-life scenarios to support the shopping process by automation of shopping cart.

Our project has the most impact on Retail Industry, smart carts can help retailers repurpose cashier labor to assist shoppers on the shop floor so they buy more, and keep shelves stocked. Smart carts can help retailers with inventory management and analytics, along with effective ways to deliver tailored promotions to customers as they shop. It will have an impact on the local industry and economy in more than one way, but we describe some of them below:
1. Smart carts are an easy path to supermarket automation.
2. Analytics Boost Retail Benefits: Smart carts can drive profits, the analytics can alter how stores present and display items to drive up profits.
3. The carts also protect against retail theft: deep learning coupled with the integrated cameras and scale ensure products are tabulated on the bill.
4. According to a survey: One European retailer that has been using the smart carts for more than three years realized an 11.6 percent increase in customer revenue and a 60 percent drop in theft.
Benefits to the Consumer:
Consumers would buy our product for its various benefits:
1. It reduces the payoff given for workers; freeing staffs from repetitive checkout scanning.
2. Its theft protected as we will use smart surveillance system.
3. It checks optimum inclusivity as it includes audio option for differently abled or old-age people (talk-to-speech).
4. it’s most efficient because of the use of RFID instead of barcode; it is also possible to rewrite the RFID tags.
5. It simplifies the process of billing making it very easier and hassle-free as in RFID System it doesn’t need line of sight.
6. The prototype is immensely user-friendly thus, does not need any special training.
7. It saves customers time; customer can get throughout information at the time of shopping and easily manage their budget at the time of shopping.
8. Low power consumption.
9. Improves security performance in the security places because we cannot make the duplicate RFID card.
The final deliverables include a prototype using IoT and RFID which is a fast and smart technology to replace the manual billing with automated billing system. It also includes a mobile APP, The mobile APP will display;
