IOT BASE SMART AGRICULTURE MONITORING SYSTEM
Agriculture is the science and art of cultivating plants. Agriculture was the key development in
the rise of sedentary human civilization. Agriculture is done manually from ages. As the world is trending into
new technologies and implementations it is a necessary goal to trend up with agriculture also. Where IOT plays a
very important role in agriculture, IOT sensors are capable of providing information about agriculture fields. This
IOT based Agriculture monitoring system makes use of wireless sensor networks that collects data from different
sensor deployed at various nodes and sends it through the wireless protocol. And it is powered by NodeMCU and
LoRa transmitter SX1278 used. It consists of temperature sensor, humidity sensor, water level sensor, PIR sensor
and different other sensor. When the IOT based agriculture monitoring system starts it checks the water level,
humidity and moisture level. This concept is created as a product and given to the farmer’s welfare science and
technology in the agriculture sector for increasing the yield.
The main objective of this paper is to design a Smart Agriculture System using IoT.
To monitor real time data of the agriculture field web page.
Here on the sensor node, we will use the Arduino Nano board and SX1278
LoRa-02 Transceiver module. Then we will interface multiple sensors like capacitive soil moisture sensor v1.2 to
measure the quantity of water present in the soil. DS18B20 waterproof temperature sensor to measure the
temperature of the soil. Similarly, in the cold season plants die due to fog and low temperature. Thus, DHT11/DHT22
Temperature & Humidity sensor is used to measure the temperature and humidity of surroundings. A 5V Single channel relay
module and water Pump are used for an automatic irrigation system. Assaid, “when there’s a will there’s a way“. I found these
SX1278 LoRa transceiver modules laying around. So, I decided to use Arduino Nano, Capacitive soil moisture sensor, DHT22
sensor, DS18B20 sensor, 5 Volt relay, DC Water Pump, and SX1278 LoRa-02 module on the transmitter side. This LoRa
Transmitter module will send the parameters like relative humidity of the soil, soil temperature, relative humidity, and
temperature of surroundings wirelessly to the LoRa receiver. On the receiver side,
I have connected the SX1278 LoRa module to the Node MCU ESP8266 module because it has a built-in Wi-Fi chip. So that LoRa receives the data and ESP8266 board uploads these parameters to the internet of things (IoT) server. As people
suggested to me on the previous project, I decided to use the new Blynk IoT 2.0 Platform. Here I can monitor those data from anywhere in the world from web dashboards as well as a mobile application. I also decided to use this small 0.96?
SSD1306 I2C OLED Display to Monitor Soil Moisture, soil temperature, relative humidity, and temperature locally on the receiver side.
1.it is easy to maintain and cost is reasonable to purchase. The components which are used are
easily available.
2.It has advantage to observe the status on smartphone.
3.The information is up to date even in absence of farmer.
4.The collected data is updated and the farmer is conscious about the status of the crop.
5.To achieve more effective and accurate details of crop several additional sensors can also be included.
Iot based SMART FARMING SYSTEM for Live Monitoring of Temperature and Soil Moisture has been proposed using Arduino and Cloud Computing . The System has high efficiency and accuracy in fetching the live data of temperature and soil moisture. The IoT based smart farming System being proposed via this report will assist farmers in increasing the agriculture yield and take efficient care of food production as the System will always provide helping hand to farmers for getting accurate live feed of environmental temperature and soil moisture with more than 99% accurate results.
