Intelligent Face Mask and Body Temperature Detection System
COVID-19 pandemic has restricted all activities throughout the world. In public places (like super markets, masajid, and educational institutes) it is critical to create a healthy environment to continue routine tasks. To ensure healthy environment we propose a smart gadget that is all in one to protect the premises of any public place. This system will automatically detect the body temperature and check if he/she is wearing the face mask when they enter your premises.
After detection, the system can control the entrance in two ways: First, the system can be connected to an electronically-locked door that would only be opended if temperature is in normal range and entrant is wearing the mask. Second, the system doesn't need to be connected to an access control system. It can be used as a standalone panel, that only generate a beep and warn the entrant/manager of place about abnormal temperature and/or absence of face mask.
The objectives of the systems are as follows.
1. Develop an automated system for real-time detection of face mask and body temperature.
2. To control the entrance by connecting the system to electronically locked doors
3. To generate an alert on mobile app and beep to warn about entrant with abnormal temperature and/or absence of face mask.
Unlike handheld thermometers that need an individual to take a person's body temperature, our proposed system provides non-contact and efficient temperature check and facial mask detection to allow or deny the entry of people in buildings and event venues. With artificial intelligence (AI) technology, it does not require human observation or intervention to assist frontline workers to perform epidemic prevention and control.
The proposed system will use a high-precision temperature sensor for body temperature measurements ranging from 35°C to 42°C (95°F to 107.6°F), precision of ±0.3°C. The system features face mask recognition in real time and can be used to intercept people not wearing face mask and who fail body temperature test. It supports sound/light alarm and access gate control for one by one walk-through inspection. The face mask detection function can be disabled if not required.
Now that many shops, offices and institutions are re-opening after nation-wide lockdown, many businesses are facing the need to provide the best possible protection systems to their staff and customers. Face masks and body temperature checks play an important role in the protection effort.
The major benefits of the proposed systems include:
1. Real-time automated detection of face mask and body temperature of people entring into public place (like super markets, masajids, hospitals or educational institutes).
2. Control the entrance by connecting the system to electronically locked doors
3. Warn the manager/entrant about abnormal temperature and/or absence of face mask by an alert on mobile app and/or beep.
4. No need of staff with hand-held devices on the entrance that will reduce the cost and health risk of staff.
5. Touch screen with self-explanatory audio/video interaction for guiding users through the entire scanning process

The final deliverable will be a small device with integrated camera and temperature sensor with already trained system for face mask detetcion. The system will be connected to electronically lockable door and will only be opened if both conditions are met.
