Industry 4.0
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryIndustry 4.0 or fourth industrial revolution aims to promote connected manufacturing industry,
business and other related processes to enable the acquisition and accessibility of far greater
amounts of data at far greater speeds, and more efficiently than ever seen before.
Unplanned corrective maintenance has many disadvantages, such as overtime salaries,
expedited costs, safety risks and a negative effect on the useful life of assets in an industry. An
IoT-based solution allows storing large amounts of data and running machine learning
algorithms on several computers in parallel to activity in order to forecast potential hazards and
pinpoint when industrial equipment is likely to fail. Instead of diagnosing possible problems
manually, a real-time report will be generated showing the health of different machinery and
its components, and notify if there is need for repair anywhere.
Using information transparency, technical assistance, and decentralized decisions, a system can
be trained to understand and predict behaviors within any industrial setting. This may in turn
be used to resolve problems before they occur, reduce risks and eventually boost profitable
outcome.
Development of generic IoT-supported boards for data collection from operating units
of industry and wireless transmission of data through cloud
Development of sophisticated algorithms for logical analysis of acquired data to make
useful predictions
