Indigenous Aluminum Container Making Machine
With increasing use of the food containers we as a developing country opted for cheap food containers like polythene and styrofoam. The current mostly usable containers are harmful for health as it causes diseases like cancer, hyperkalemia, and kidney diseases. So, there is a dire need for safe packaging. The current safe and recyclable packaging which are available in the market are very expensive because they are made outside the country. The machines which they are made in are expensive and are imported from other countries. Therefore we are making a machine which will eliminate the imports which will help the nation’s economy as well as provide the safe, cheap and recyclable food containers.
Life in Pakistan’s major cities is steadily growing busy with each passing year and people are opting for takeaways from restaurants, even if people have time for cooking, with a variety of ready to eat options available common man do go for these options for change of taste. One safe option for the harmless delivery of food from takeaways is the use of containers made of Aluminium.
Our market survey revealed that there is great scope of Aluminium container making in Pakistan in general and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular. Further, we concluded that if an indigenous machine is fabricated with low price of sale it could help us socially by involving women in container making that will add value to their time while still being at their home. Additionally, Aluminium is environmentally friendly and recyclable. Aluminum is 100% recyclable and non reactable with food which makes it a good candidate for containers. Therefore, we are going to design and fabricate a machine with low capital cost and that will also meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. (SDGs). This machine is not available in kp, therefore we aim to make it indigenously.
To create a machine which will produce sustainable packaging using aluminum sheets.
Machine should produce 350 pieces per hour
To produce well tested machines. Implementing new numerical analysis methods like FEA, and manufacturing process which is environment friendly as well as available indigenously.
To implement the United Nations sustainable development goal (SDG) 9, “Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation”.
To implement the SDG 11, Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
To implement the United Nations sustainable development goal 12, to Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Produce a product which can act as an agent for small industries.
Increase earning sources for the poor.
To implement a data collection system in the machine.
We use the Gantt chart and waterfall implementation approach which is recommended by our department.
Mechanical engineering product design: interviews, requirement specifications, surveys, material selection,
We also talked to the existing industries in case they want to implement our machine in real life. One of the industries agreed to implement and test it.
Aluminum is Recyclable so no more extraction of minerals will be needed.
Already present cancer causing toxic containers will be replaced with the safe ones. So reducing diseases caused by the use of current containers.
This is indigenous machine so it will be cost effective.
Reduce import of machines and containers.
It is operable by females and they can start business by using this machine as a mini production facility even in their homes.
With a density of 2.70g/cubic cm aluminum products are very light, cutting down on transport costs.
