Project Title

Image Steganography in Embedded Systems (Receiver Side)

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

In the modern era, data security is becoming a great threat. Now due to the internet, there is a good thing that we are all connected and have data accessible in any part of the world but it's also affecting our own privacy greatly. Now our data is not secure at all, it's more prone to get hacked than it was a decade ago. So, we thought about this issue and came up with this project called 'Steganography'. In this technique, we hide data within a specific medium and medium shape, size or anything that doesn't change at all. By this, the hackers couldn't know whether the medium was changed, so, that they could hack it.

Project Objectives

n this project, we are able to hide our data without anyone getting to know about it. For example, we are doing a Steganography type that is Image Steganography. In this, we hide our secret message within the image and the image is not altered or changed after hiding the message. So, basically no one knows that there is something hidden within the image because for the human eye the difference is not visible at all. By this, our image gets saved from the hackers because they can't see any difference in the image.

Project Implementation Method

We are implementing our project on FPGA. FPGA is basically short form of 'Field Programmable Gate Array'. FPGA is a complex standalone system.

We were first supposed to do our Coding on Python Language then would have transferred it to FPGA Coding i.e. Verilog Coding.

Not everything is going to be converted to FPGA Coding only the part taking a longer time in Python would be converted to FPGA Coding because FPGA is quite faster than Processor languages.

Benefits of the Project

Benefit are as follows:

1) Data Security.

2) Fast processing and hiding of large data within mediums at a fast pace due to FPGA.

3) The data hiding process would be now achievable. on Python as well

4) Secret messages between Armed forces or any high-security offices are now achievable in a more confidential way.

5) In Pakistan, there isn't a lot of work on FPGA, so after our project there would be something new available to be done or modified on FPGA.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Final deliverables would be our FPGA kit within that there would our code of Python and Verilog Code would be burned. We would be sending images to our FPGA and it would perform the Embedding and De-embedding process within it and after successfully doing it the results would be displayed on the screen.
