Project Summary

To find missing People is a big problem not only in Pakistan in fact in all over the world.  A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and fate are not known. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2012 that: "It is estimated that some 8 million children go missing around the world each year. In Pakistan for the purpose of finding the missing person many NGOs work. There method of finding people is very old and difficult. In traditional method, they use Print media/ Social media for the finding of missing people. Our aim is to build a system that find missing person through image processing using face as a parameter. Our project is based on a website and a mobile application which is used for the identification of missing persons in our community which aids their relatives or siblings to get easily find their missing ones. Moreover, families of new missing person also data about the missing person which will be stored in our database.

Project Objectives

The objectives of the project are to find the missing person through digital image processing using face as a parameter. We will provide better solution for finding a missing person which is much better as compared to traditional method. The main aim of this project is to reduce the human effort and NGO’s burden in finding the missing persons.

Project Implementation Method

First of all we install cameras in different areas of city which will help us in monitoring the missing person. This cameras will scan the faces of every person at this specific place and by using facial recognition the missing person will be identified. If the missing person is identified, then the system will generate an alert and provide us the details of that missing person. The second way is that the person we doubt might be missing person can be recognised by scanning the face using mobile application.

Benefits of the Project

This project is about developing system that will help in finding the missing person through digital image processing using face as a parameter. We provide batter solution for finding a missing person which is much batter as compared to traditional method. The main aim of this project is to reduce the human effort and NGO’s burden in finding the missing persons. By using the web application of this system families of new missing persons easily submit the data of their missing person for the identification by using our system.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We are going to deliver a smart way to find missing person using image processing which include a web application and an android application: • First, user will interact with our Web/Mobile application and upload the data sets of his/her missing sibling.

• After receiving the data sets these data sets will be stored in our database which will be used for future recogntiion of missing person.

• Next step is to recognize the person using digital image processing by using face as a parameter.

• The last step is of visualisation of the results. If the missing person is recognized by our system then the system will notify their relatives.
