Hospital Automation System For Isolated Patients Of Corona-virus
Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryMany diseases spread with indirect contact, one of them is a coronavirus. So the patients are needed to be kept in an isolated environment. Our aim is to develop a Robotic Assistant to facilitate the patents and hospital staff. We will develop a system with an LCD screen that can be fixed with the bed of the patient. It displays the iconized list of medicines that patients can request from the pharmacist quarter. After the initial request if it gets permitted then medicine is provided to the patient automatically. A robotic cart will pick up medicine from the conveyer at the pharmacy and deliver it to the patient.
Robotic services will be provided to serve the food on time from the kitchen to the patients who requested for it. After getting the order placed from the LCD of a specific bed, Our robot will pick up the food from the conveyer to deliver it to the specified patient.
A database will be built in the system for the initial request received from the patient, also path will be identified that the robotic cart has to follow to deliver the placed order.
Another feature is added to call the doctor or attendant. The patient can give a call from his bed with the system to deliver the message for the case of any need or emergency. Also, it will alarm about abnormal environmental conditions to provide an isolated controlled environment.
Project ObjectivesIn late 2019, a new kind of virus began generating headlines all over the world because of the unprecedented speed of its transmission.
From its origins in a food market in Wuhan, China in December 2019 to countries as far-flung as the United States and the Philippines, the virus (officially named COVID-19) has infected tens of thousands, with a rising death toll now over 2,000. In March 2019, research was published on the risk of coronavirus from bats. During the past two decades, three zoonotic coronaviruses have been identified as the cause of large-scale disease outbreaks [1]. Now it is the headlight all over the world. It can cause the death of the patient. As the virus is developed from animals so there is no antivirus available up to now. Only the treatment is to mediate cough fever and kidney just for insignificant period relief and to keep them isolated from the external environment. The government of china locked so many people is restricted rooms to isolate that because of the continuous spread of disease. Also, five cases are diagnosed in Pakistan. We need to address the problem before the risk to avoid further spread. So, we are going to design the system to assist these patients and the hospital servers to give the basic services with the robotic cart and autonomous system. For example, it can deliver medicine on request with the approval of pharmacists and provide food to the patient automatically. And call the doctor or nurse with the commands that are iconized on LCD placed next to the bed of the patient. Not only Coronavirus patients, but our proposed system can also help for the general services of the hospital.

Project Implementation MethodThe project uses the practice of wireless communication systems between two setups between patients and services points e.g. Pharmacy, food providers moreover access to the office of doctors and assistants. Also, it will alarm about abnormal environmental conditions that were isolated to make it under control The connection between them is provided with the wireless communication services but the system is controlled with a programed hierarchy that is small-scale and mobile, which enables a more manageable operation with little setup.
Hardware & Software used:
- Arduino Setup
- Wireless modules
- LCD setups
- Conveyer Belt & cart Setup
- Visual Studio
- Environment controllers e.g. Sensors
- Batteries
- Hardware model of hospital systems
Steps Involved:
1. Software design was finalized by displaying the request list for medicine & emergency alarm was pinned to call the doctor that was directly connected to the With the pharmacy quarter and Head office of doctors or medical subordinates.
2. The alarm setup is designed & iconized in the case of abnormal environmental conditions to detect any change in an isolated environment that can impact the patient's health so it can be made under control.
3. Communication between two wireless devices was finalized that can connect from
LCDs from the patient side to the head office monitoring.
4. Medicine database was built to become operational that can give the stock of all the drugs in stores that can be requested from the pharmacy.
5. A robotic path followed by an automated cart was developed to serve by getting all the previous commands to serve the patient.
The project will be highly beneficial to control the diseases that are viral and can follow the indirect transmission from one person to the other person.
It will provide an isolated environment providing the controls of temperature humidity etc. It will serve the food to the patient on time & provide medicine on the bed with the approved request of the doctor.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableHospital Automation System For Isolated Patients of Coronavirus is of great importance for human assistance with wireless connection communication because of its extensive applications in-hospital services. In this project we will build a prototype of automated hospital system by connection between setup of hospital rooms and head office & providing the access to food medicine. Alarms to call doctors & control remote environment. Upon finalization of the project, we will provide
- A prototype of the Hospital Automation System for Isolated Patients of viral diseases to assist them with automated n hardware and software systems.
