Horticulture Augmented Reality landscaping is an android and VR Handset application that will allow user to design his garden in the virtual environment by placing the Virtual texture or surface and objects like plants, flowers and grass, etc. It also let user place the garden furniture. Users can experience a 360-degree fully immersive view of his garden. This application will be developed with the help of ARCore which is Google’s SDK for Virtual and Augmented Reality in Android.  We will use the agile approach to move step by step in this project. To create the virtual environment and using ARCore the unreal engine 4 will be used.

Project Objectives

Objectives of the projects are to give the user a completely immersive experience, an app would be developed that uses the ARCore Apk to implement the Augmented/Virtual reality experience. Users can interact with the application to place different objects in garden space on handheld devices like mobile phones or on the VR headsets. This app would also be used in education to teach the students about the practical concepts of Horticulture Landscaping. 

Project Implementation Method

We will use an agile methodology to complete the project. The need for agile methodology for virtual reality development is two-fold. One, there is a need for a method that improves project management efficiency to keep up with a rapidly evolving technological spectrum, and two, a methodology that focuses on the actual software development process to ensure the perfection of the end product but in a streamlined, fast-paced manner.

The importance of agile development methodology in VR is that a hybrid combination of two of the most popular agile processes fulfills all the virtual reality developmental requirements. Based on the agile methodology, a development technique for virtual reality projects comprises an eight-step process to ensure maximum productivity.

An app would be developed that uses the ARCore Apk to implement the Augmented/Virtual reality experience. The android studio and Unreal engine 4 will be used to develop the application. Users can interact with the application to place the different objects in garden space on the handheld device like a mobile phone or on the VR headsets.

Benefits of the Project

The home garden gives a really nice look and feel to home but choosing the right flowers, plants, and trees for adding into space is something really difficult. And you can’t try out different combinations to see what looks good in available space or where you should plant a tree or just some flowers. As the technology is developing with the passage of time it is coming up with the solutions as by using Augmented Reality, AR mimics the real-world scenarios through projected visuals that make it feel authentic. With this, users can quickly use mobile apps and experience the real world as it is meant to be explored. we can see exactly what best suits in the garden according to the user’s aesthetic. The App will help the user to place different landscaping modes in real-time space and he can choose one which he likes. He can fully customize the garden space in Augmented Reality according to his own aesthetic

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Final Deliverable will be an Android Application that can be used on the android device that has ARCore enabled in it and VR Handsets. There are very few devices that support ARCore to enable Augmented and Virtual Reality Experience. 

Users should be able to create an account in the app. Can log in to the system using available credentials. The app should track the record of their projects. The App should Scan the Area using the camera of the android mobile and Depth Sensor for surface detection and then let the user customize the surface with different textures and materials. Give the user facility to place the different tree's flowers and grass. Different garden furniture and architecture should also be available.
