- Smoke Sensor
Correlation with the industrial practices and trends
Today, smart cities are being developed. Everything is going toward automation. All manual tasks are being automated today. So our project targets the latest industrial and market trends.
- With home automation, people will live a more proficient and comfortable life.
- Our home can be protected by home automation.
- We will build an application for smartphones using the Android operating system for controlling smart devices for easier and more convenient living. Because apps are trending today.
- All home appliances will be controlled by an android app and website.
- We will build a system that will be controlled from a remote location.
- The camera will use for security. So security issue has also been targeted in this project.
- Our target is to take this project to the smart city level.
- The objective of this system is that it will provide a cost-effective solution for controlling the home appliances and security from intruders in the absence of the homeowner. This system used Wi-Fi devices for communication through website or android application.
- With smart homes, people will live a more proficient and comfortable life. Our home can be protected by home automation. We are planning to build an application for smartphones using the Android operating system for controlling smart devices for easier and more convenient living. All home appliances can be controlled by an android app and website. We will build a system which will be controlled by remote location and camera will use for security. So, the security issue has also been targeted in this project. Our target is to take this project to a smart city.
The key features/functionality of our project include:
-
Smart switch design to control appliances remotely
-
Smart door lock
-
Fire Alarm
-
Touch screen interface and design
-
Mobile app design for home automation
-
Website design for Home Automation
-
Synchronized status of appliances on the touch display, App, and Website
Tools:
• Android Studio
• Arduino IDE
• E-Draw Software
• Proteus
Hardware:
• Arduino ( UNO / MINI )
• NodeMCU ESP8266
• Relays
• Bread Board
• Touch Panel
• Jumper wires
• Sensor
Home Automation can be categorized into two types, wire system, and wireless system. In the wiring system, all the devices are connected to a central point using wires. In the wireless system, there are two elements are used which are sender and receiver.
In this project, we are implementing the mechanism of controlling home appliances smartly by using the Wi-Fi module ESP8266 which will give the internet access and we can connect through the internet. When we will enter the IP address of the Wi-Fi module into the web browser, we will be able to control any appliances. In our case, we are using the circuit connected through the relay which will provide the switching mechanism and we will control it through the network. We are using a touch screen display that will be synchronized with our App and Web. When the user will connect the android app to the internet and user will press the buttons to ON and OFF the home appliances then the signal will forward to the Wi-Fi module and the Wi-Fi module will send it to Arduino. Arduino will ON and OFF the appliances according to the instructions from the user.

You might think of home automation as a nifty way to keep up with the latest technology, or an opportunity for homeowners to show off, but there are some amazing (and indisputably) practical advantages to home automation. Want a couple of examples? Here they are:
1. Managing all of your home devices from one place. The convenience factor here is enormous. Being able to keep all of the technology in your home connected through one interface is a massive step forward for technology and home management.
2. Flexibility for new devices and appliances. Home automation systems tend to be wonderfully flexible when it comes to the accommodation of new devices and appliances and other technology. No matter how state-of-the-art your appliances seem today, there will be newer, more impressive models developed as time goes on.
3. Maximizing home security. When you incorporate security and surveillance features in your smart home network, your home security can skyrocket. There are tons of options here -- only a few dozen of which are currently being explored.
4. Remote control of home functions. Don’t underestimate the power of being able to control your home’s functions from a distance. On an exceptionally hot day, you can order your house to become cooler in just enough time before you get home from work.
5. Increased energy efficiency. Depending on how you use your home automation technology, it’s possible to make your space more energy-efficient.
6. Improved appliance functionality. Automated homes can also help you run your appliances better.
7. Home management insights. There’s also something to be said for your ability to tap into insights on how your home operates.
