In our system we are taking decision based on Human presence using PIR (Passive infrared sensor) when someone enter in the room light on. And give notification about event considering the load shedding and peak hours so it save energy consumption and save you because it remind user considering load shedding so a user can do his/her electric work according to reminder. 

Project Objectives

Change the status (turn ON/OFF) of the device upon receiving commands through SMS. Connections of this GSM based home automation circuit are quite simple, It is connected to Arduino. Rx and Tx pin of GSM module is directly connected at Tx and Rx pin of Arduino respectively. And GSM module is powered by using a 5 volt adaptor. 5 volt 5 relays are used for controlling appliances. And relays are connected to Arduino pin number 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 for controlling appliances respectively.

 To reduce light electricity wastage in and to produce an automatic light switch controls with reasonable cost. It is not an easy task to design this system as PIR sensor is generally used for the motion detection. We have done coding in such a way that little movement of the human is detected by the sensor. We have put some time delay and adjusted the sampling period for the sensor output for the precise detection.

Project Implementation Method

We are in the midst of an era where the technology has solved most of our problems. With depleting resources there has been a strong need to save energy and find alternatives. The proposed home automation system allows user to switch ON and OFF the lights, fans etc. From any where since this system is controlled using GSM module. The concept behind this is to receive the sent message string from mobile and then processing it to perform the desired function. This is most useful for people living alone or handicapped since it allows them to remotely monitor their appliances.

Human beings are wasting too much of electrical energy by not turning off the lights, fans and many other electrical appliances when they are not using it. To overcome this problem we have developed a device that can be fitted anywhere in offices or homes. As the device will detect the presence of Human and automatically turn on and off the device. To detect the presence of human we are using PIR Sensor. PIR consist of IR sensors and IR sensors are used to the heat of the human body and it will turn on the electrical appliances.

Event reminder function in the app it helps to set event of usage of electric appliances and its give the notification considering load shedding peak hour and notify about event so it saves money and a person can do that work in available of electricity.    

Benefits of the Project

Mobile phone is a revolutionary invention of the century. It was primarily designed for making and receiving calls & text messages, but it has become the whole world after the Smart phone comes into the picture. In this project Smart phone is needed, also the old GSM phone will work to switch ON and OFF any home electronic appliances, from anywhere. This easy to use control of appliances will not only make our daily life easy but it will also reduce the unnecessary consumption of electricity.

The modern era beckons to solve the energy crisis along with increasing energy consumption day by day which is creating problem in everywhere. Particularly in city area departmental stores have become a big part of energy consumption. Thus, the role of automated control systems in helping to reduce the cost of production and provide production safety with ecological balance preservation is significantly important.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The scopes of works in this project are;

Mobile phone with SIM card enables the user to remotely control the operations of the appliances by communication to the GSM modem. GSM modem allows the capability to send and receive SMS to and from the mobile phone. Relay is the basic serial communication cable that will be used to interface between GSM modem and Arduino. Arduino will be control circuit that is connected to the appliances. It contains the software components through which the appliances are controlled and monitored. Relay and control circuit used to detect and control the condition of the home appliances.

This proposal will cover the identification and analysis of equipment that will be use. In addition, this proposal will give information about the light electricity used in residence. The effect of fluorescent light operation on human body is one of information that contain in this proposal. The main objective of this project is to produce an automatic light switch with Arduino Uno module. The implementation of this project will be concerned on type of equipment that will be used, the cost of this project, and the circuit design for automatic light switch control. The width and area of room model is focused more as Passive Infra Red (PIR) Motion Sensor is use as the sensor in this project. The Arduino Uno module have been analyzed and explored first before it is apply on this project.
