Health Monitoring Based on IoT
Among the applications that Internet of Things (IoT) facilitated to the world, Healthcare applications are most important. In general, IoT has been widely used to interconnect the advanced medical resources and to offer smart and effective healthcare services to the people. Patients are facing a problematic situation of unforeseen demise due to the specific reason of heart problems and heart attack which is because of nonexistence of good medical maintenance to patients at the needed time. In this project, we propose a system for monitoring of pulse rate and body temperature of the person with dedicated sensors along with Raspberry PI and IoT (Internet of Things). Monitoring your beloved ones becomes a difficult task in the modern day life. Keeping track of the health status of your patient at home is a difficult task. Especially old age patients should be periodically monitored and their loved ones need to be informed about their health status from time to time while at work. So we propose an innovative system that automated this task with ease. Our system puts forward a smart patient health monitoring system that uses Sensors to track patient health and uses internet to inform their loved ones and the doctor are alerted through an SMS immediately by displaying it on the LCD or Mobile Screen in case of any issues. In this project, we are proposing an innovative project to dodge such sudden death rates by using Health Monitoring that uses sensor technology. This system uses Temperature and heartbeat sensor for tracking patients’ health. For individuals with heart disease, the Heart Rate (HR) and Body Temperature (BT) values are considered vital signs that must be measured regularly. If system detects any unexpected changes in patient heartbeat or body temperature, the system automatically alerts the user/doctor about the patient’s status over IOT and also shows details of heartbeat and temperature of patient live over the internet. Thus IOT based patient health monitoring system effectively uses internet to monitor the patient health status and save the patients’ lives on time. A perfect tradeoff between accuracy and cost of the system is accomplished by choosing appropriate sensors which are: the first one is a DS18B20 (temperature sensor) and the second one is the Heartbeat sensor KG011 (heart rate sensor) these sensors connected to the Raspberry PI is used to check the patient’s temperature and heart rate. If the temperature and heart rate of the patient is above normal, the doctor is alerted through an SMS/alarm immediately. The pulse rate and temperature of a person at different time instants are measured by the sensors. In this project, we present the idea of a service model in technological and economic views for the comfort of patients and also the open challenges in implementing IoT in real world medical field.
In this project, I have proposed a system in which patient’s body temperature and heart rate reading results that are being monitored by the system. The various sensors are placed on the patient’s body and they take the readings and send the corresponding signal to the raspberry pi. The Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized single-board computer. Here, various sensors are used to measure the patient’s body temperature and heart rate and their respective results are sent to the database via Raspberry Pi and can be monitored from anywhere worldwide through the internet. The programming in Raspberry Pi is done in python language and it sends the data related to the patients’ health to the server connected via Internet. The details can be easily accessed online by proper authentication and health status of the patient can be monitored. In this project, I found the importance and fruitful benefits of implementation of IoT in remote health monitoring systems. The compact sensors with IoT will make a huge impact on every Patient’s life. The sensory data can be acquired in home or work environments. Also, the challenges in sensing, analytics and prediction of the disease are also highlighted and those can be addressed to provide a seamless integration into the medical field.
In IoT based healthcare monitoring Physical health information like heart rate, body temperature etc. is collected vary accurately by sensors and corresponding decisions is taken by big data analytics technique it helps in minimizing human errors.
Internet of Things based Internet healthcare monitoring support green technology and minimize paperwork and documentation.
This project is an IOT Based. So, in final it is a kind of Health Monitoring by using different sensors that are connected to the Raspberry PI which simply takes input from the sensors, these sensors used to check the patients’ condition and show the output to the doctor/user. If the patient condition is above normal, the doctor is alerted through an SMS/alarm immediately. This can be done by using different this project.
