Home automation system is getting popular and widely used in a lot of houses worldwide. We are proposing GSM based Home Automation System in which home appliances can be controlled via SMS sent to microcontroller using Android Application. The advantage over similar systems is that SMS is cheap way to communicate within longer distances. Android Application will suggest actions to the user based on preferences and setting timers for switching appliances is also included. Moreover, the survey of different home automation systems is discussed, and their advantages and drawbacks are also highlighted.

Project Objectives

We aim to target a wider variety of users to provide them a single platform that is handy enough to perform all household cores on just a button click.

The use of buttons , graphics and other user controls to offer user with common and common user interface that is interactive to all type of users.

Project Implementation Method

GSM based home automation system is prototype based project consists of harware and software part. Android Application sends message to hardware part, which will process according to that message.

Raspberry pi is used as microcontroller, which will run software module(program in Python Language) and read incomming message from GSM Module SIM800L.

Benefits of the Project

Project will facilitate the user to manipulate smart home appliances through smartphone’s GSM technology that offers portable, less exorbitant and easy to use application.

It will provide a system that provides support to elderly and disabled in our homes.

Concept, design questions, goal:  

Nowadays Home Automation system are every where, what new we can do? Technology never ends. So providing best service to customer is key goal.

Audience & experience:

User who want to keep control of home in their hands. Home automation applications are useful for handicapped persons in home.

Technical Production:

Android application with good GUI is developed and python code on raspbery doing the work to read message securely.

The reliabilty of hardware system play key role in system.
