Any element of the environment that is less than ideal limits a plant's development and dispersion. Plant problems are typically caused by environmental factors. GroWiser is a solution that aims to recommend the best suited plant as per the environment and allow monitoring of the growing plants.  Our primary focus is to maintain a rigorous dataset that can be used for the prediction of suitable plant according to the environmental factors. Moreover, the project aimed to predict plant at runtime with the use of the hardware model that will be embedded into the soil where the user wants to grow plants and will sense the soil and environmental properties. Besides the prediction, GroWiser provides a monitoring system through which user will be notified with updates regarding the plant requirements. The user can obtain information about the plant, for example: most plants are sensitive to water and sun, lack or excessive provision of both will kill the plant. Therefore, the monitoring tool will inform the user when to water their plants or when there is a need to expose them to the sun, or when they should keep them in the shade. The project includes both mobile and web applications that users can use at their convenience. There will be an ecommerce website where one can find comprehensive and relevant information about the project and to buy the respective plant.

“GroWiser” project intends to develop a solution (application) for Gardeners, Nature lovers who do not get the desired results while planting so this application build a model to solve this problem using Machine Learning techniques.

Project Implementation Method

GroWiser is a combination of software and hardware modules. The software part includes the web and mobile applications while the hardware consists of the sensors required for sensing the environment and plant growth. We will start with combining and completing the dataset as a Machine Learning model will be developed for the recommendation of best suited plants. With 90% of the dataset, we will train our machine learning (ML) model using different regression algorithms. Tests will be performed on the remaining 10% of the dataset. In the meantime, we will develop our web and mobile applications. React JS will be used for web application development and Android Studio for mobile application development. The hardware component of the GroWiser will contain different sensors that sense the soil requirements (NPK soil sensor), temperature, humidity, and soil PH. We will integrate the hardware and software (mobile and web apps) to deliver the solution. In order to test the system, we will take soil samples for recommendations and a plant for monitoring after the hardware and software are integrated.

Benefits of the Project Technical Details of Final Deliverable

GroWiser will provide a smart solution for growing plants comprise of mobile application, web application and a hardware unit. Users can sign up and log in using either the GroWiser mobile app or the GroWiser web app. The mobile application will be developed using android studio and web application using React JS. List of recommended plants will be shown on the basis of environmental parameters with the help of machine learning (ML) model. The model will be trained using different regression algorithms to give the best recommendations. The GroWiser will also be capable of monitoring the plants with the use of different sensors including temperature sensor, a light intensity sensor, a soil pH and moisture sensor, and an NPK sensor. The combination of these sensors aid in both recommendations and monitoring of plants. Once users receive the recommended plant list, they can choose to buy the plants from different nurseries. A portal will be provided for the nursery where a nursery can register itself with its plants. The GroWiser plant monitoring module will notify the user timely when their plant needs water. Users will also able to check the history of the last watered date and time.
