Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Compressed natural gas (CNG) is an inevitable on in day-to- day life.LPG is used in many range of applications like cooking appliances, industrial appliances, in vehicles and as a propellant and refrigerator. Due to leakage of LPG, it produces hazardous and toxic impact on human begins and also other living creatures. To over this predicament, we need quittance. There by, we speculate some solution to detect the LPG gas leakage and make alert to users of it.
Ideal gas sensor is used to detect the presence of a dangerous LPG and CNG leak in your car or in a service station,big resturants,industries,homes and storage tank environment. This unit can be easily incorporated into an alarm unit, sound an alarm or give a visual indication. The sensor has excellent sensitivity combined with a quick response time. The sensor can also sense iso-butane, propane, LNG alcohol and cigarette smoke.
Here we are using MQ5 gas sensor for sensing the leakage and produce the sound alarm by buzzer sound when it crosses the threshold value of >400ppm.It glow the leds to indicate three stages of gas leaking. Once again it recheck the value if it crosses >700ppm it will setup a SMS based alert mechanism by GSM module SIM900A.
The controller used here is Arduino. The sensor has excellent sensitivity combined with a quick requital time. This project design approach on both software and hardware. Here for this purpose an embedded system comprising of “Arduino controllers”, “Embedded C”, Gas sensor, “GSM MODULE SIM900A”.
there are three cases.
Case 1:
When there is no gas leakeage the a message will be send to the user/owner through GSM and will display also on the LCD. The green LED will be glow until there is no any detection of gas.
Case 2:
When there is low gas leakage, the sensor will detect the gas and send the message to the owner through GSM and Yellow LED will glow with along to display the message also on LCD.
Case 3:
when there is high level gas leakage the sensor will detect the gas and send the message to the owner through GSM and Red LED will glow with along to display the message also on LCD .
When gas leakage of a detectable quantity o is sensed by the MQ 5 sensor (which is capable of detecting natural gas in addition to LPG and CNG), an analogue signal is sent to the microcontroller from the sensor and the buzzer will be on. An in-built ADC in the microcontroller converts the analogue gas signals into digital signals. For a detectable gas leakage quantity, a digital high (1) is transmitted while a digital low (0) is transmitted for a non-detectable quantity.
If the Gas quantity is not detectable the green LED will be glow and the message will be display on LCD and also will be send to the consumer or owner through mobile phone.
If the gas leakage amount is detectable then the yellow LED will glow and again the message will be display on LCD and also will be send to the consumer or owner through mobile phone.
Now if the gas leakage is futher increase and reach to its extream point which cause explosion the red LED will glow and the message will be display on LCD and also will be send to the consumer or owner through mobile phone.
