Dyslexia ia a reading disability, characterized by difficulty in reading irrespective of I.Q.. It is neural disorder which cannot be completely treated. The only way is to rehabilitate the patient. There are many symptoms of dyslexia for example confusing b with d or bat with tab and many more. People having dyslexia can not perform well at school and in daily life too. This project aims at building a game that would screen out wether a person is having dyslexia or not and to what percentage. After diagnosis the treatment phase starts which is rehabilitation according to the deficiency and age. the project would contain a computer or mobile game implemented on the symptoms of dyslexia. the dyslexic children would then play it and results would be compared to the traditional ways and accuracy of the game would be predicted.
The objective of this project is to help children with dyslexia grow and learn through technology rather than traditional ways. It is aimed to build the interactive educational game based on the symptoms of dyslexia. Through the game severity level of dyslexia can also be calculated. Age is set as parameter for the diagnosis of this disorder. The fundamental purpose of this game is to diagnose /rehabilitate the children suffering from the disorder. It is observed that children learn more through computer games as compared to classroom environment. So, it is thought to give children an artificial environment to educate the and improve their learning.
The project would be implemented using unity 3D, a software is to make computer and android games. The accets will also be used to build the game. the application will be programmed using objective C sharp and and a high level abstraction to make it easily portable from iOS7 to Android. the game would preferably be played on tablet where is would be installed after implementation.
As dyslexia is only screened out by some tools under the supervision of speech therapists and this is time taking process and boring too especially for kids. So another way to screen and diagnose the disorder can be through computer games which is more entertaining. the children are more comfortable while using computer or smart devices so interactive environment can also be provided by games. This new method will prove to be quick in making children learn. to this new environment children would be more responsive. The more accurate results would be achieved.
The final deliverable product would be the game that would screen out the occurrence of dyslexia in a person. the game would contain different levels to check verbal and auditory memory, comprehension skills and syllable reading ability. Age would also be a factor according to which difficulty of task would change. After checking the level of severity the patient would be rehabilitated in the deficient field.
