Overview:

The purpose of this proposal is to design and develop a machine which can convert sugar mill waste (i.e. bagasse, ash and press mud) into fuel briquettes. This machine can also be used for biomass waste as well. Biomass waste is produced, in tons every day in every corner of Pakistan. These wastes or residues are usually of no use, hence discarded. It is estimated that biomass potential of Pakistan is around $ 18 billion.

The world is switching toward renewable energy or eco-friendly energy systems. This waste or residue can come in handy as the source of making such systems.

Our main target is to design such a solution that could take care of huge amount of wastes that gets discarded... The raw material targeted is sugarcane bagasse and Mud, which is produced in tons as a byproduct of sugar. These waste or residue is to produce Bio fuel also termed as natural fuel, which is environment friendly.

In the categories of bio fuel, there are different types of fuels and different methods for making them. The fuel we focused on is Briquettes. It can be made from different raw materials the material we have chosen is Bagasse, mud and ash. Briquettes is a very eco-friendly and cheap means of solid fuel.

The machine we are targeting is a screw based automated and semi-automated machine, which will input these Agro-wastes as raw material and will produce solid fuel stick or Briquettes to be exact in our case.

Project Implementation Method

The project is comprised of two main parts Mechanical and the Electrical part,

Mechanical Part:

The mechanical part consist of the base on which the screw chamber and the screw is fixed and the motor and gear box is placed and a hopper is situated on top of the starting end of the screw with internally fitted flaps which push the raw material in the screw chamber.
