Floor Cleaning Robot with sweeping and mopping operation

Project Area of Specialization

Robotics

Project Summary

Production robots may automate repetitive tasks and reduce the risk of human error to a negligible level. There are several uses for manufacturing robots. There is a need for both autonomous and manual robot development in high-volume repetitive processes when a robot offers unmatched benefits in terms of speed, accuracy, and long-term performance. A corporation may thrive on larger contracts thanks to the increased efficiency provided by industrial robots. Other industrial solutions are provided by robot technologies that aid people with more difficult tasks.

Possessing a robot cleaning in the backdrop is like adding a more trustworthy and consistent person to your staff. Rather than spending time and energy on repetitive, superfluous tasks that machines can easily perform (such as sweeping & mopping), robotic cleaning machines allow employees to focus their efforts and attention on tasks that have a greater impact on the company's bottom line and can only be performed by humans. Smarter and more automated, today's homes are getting more complex. With the help of home automation, consumers may have more free time. As a relatively young and immature sector, domestic robots are making their way into homes and people's everyday lives. However, household robots are expected to develop and their use is expanding. The market for robotic vacuums is flooded with options, but just a handful allow for wet floor cleaning. A Cleaning Robot that can be operated both autonomously and manually through a phone application is the goal of this endeavor. An automated vacuum and mopping system is preferred over a labor-intensive manual one. Robotic floor cleaners that sweep, vacuum, and wipe are all included in this project's scope of capabilities. By combining the data from two sensors, the robot can avoid accidents with moving objects like cars and trucks. Autonomous and manual modes of operation are supported by this device. If the robot is in autonomous mode, it will follow an edge detection algorithm and travel in a zigzag manner. In manual mode, an Android app may be used to operate it.

Project Objectives

To design a Bluetooth control mobile robot having functionality :

  • To scan the obstacles earlier than the robot and to avoid collision when the robot is in motion.
  • To collect the dust particles into the vacuum.
  • Sweep mechanism to mop the wet debris.
  • Less humans assistance in the cleaning process.

Project Implementation Method

A battery-operated cleaning robot cleans and mops at the same time using the smartphone connection. Arduino is the main controller used to control the cleaning robot. Bluetooth electronics app controls cleaning robot with an android device. An ultrasonic sensor is used for obstacle detection. Turn signal provides extra protection from a collision that will act as an indicator that allows humans to stay out of the robot’s way.

The L293DN driver circuit is used to drive the DC motors simultaneously in all directions. Arduino sends the signal to the motor driver circuit that controls and drives the wheel. According to the programming instructions in the Arduino, as the robot starts moving the vacuum fixed in the front part of the robot starts sucking the dry debris. The moping operation can be started or stopped at any point in time as per the requirement.

Benefits of the Project

The Following describes the benefits of the project:

  • Reduces Human effort
  • Useful for
  • Compact
  • cheaper
  • Cleans wet and dry debris at the same time
  • obstacle avoiding technique
  • uses Indicators to indicate the next move of the robot

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Arduino UNO, LDR Sensor, Motor Driver L293D, Ultrasonic Sensor, IR Sensor, HC-05/06 Bluetooth module are used in this project's concept and implementation. / Disposing of used napkins/cloths/rags/etc. A rechargeable lead-acid battery with a sealed cap Geared plastic motors with wheels Vinyl tubing, a water pump Plastic bottles, a fan that blows warm air through them, and a transistor board with TIP31C/TIP122 NPN power transistors mops on wheels, Headers and cables that connect two devices together that are of the same sex Tools like a Hot glue gun, Soldering iron, Drill, Rotatory tool, Wire cutter/stripper, Pliers are needed to complete this project. User-friendly features will be included in the Vacuum Robot. This smartphone-controlled robot cleans your home's floor. The revolving mops on the robot's front end and the vacuum at the rear are more than capable of doing the work at hand with ease. An optional water pump and storage tank may be used to wet down the mops and provide moisture as needed for thorough cleaning. The Arduino UNO, the most widely used microcontroller, receives orders through Bluetooth connection through an HC-05 Bluetooth module. The project also works autonomously by avoiding impediments. 12V lead-acid battery powers the robot. When it comes to the mops, I utilized 75rpm plastic motors and a 100rpm driving motor pair. The greatest thing would be that the mops were indeed created from old CDs & rags, and they clean quite well.
