Access to healthcare facilities is a right of every individual. Unfortunately in Balochistan, many people do not have access to the health facilities mostly because of their distant location to their homes. Considering these factors, a website is developed and integrated with ArcGIS. Using ArcGIS pro, all the current healthcare facilities of Balochistan are mapped and shown. Optimal locations on the map for constructing new healthcare facilities will be shown through website. This is done by considering multiple factors such as area population, WHO threshold per 10,000 population, Balochistan's government policies and other miscellaneous factors such as land irregularities. Moreover, suggestions for upgradations of existing facilties will also be a part of website. It will prove beneficial to the Government and other stakeholders in order to know that which areas lack health facilities and where new health facilities need to constructed so that maximum people can reach there and get access to health facilities.

Project Implementation Method

Firstly, a website is developed using html, css and javascript. Consecutively, data collection process is started to collect information about all the healthcare facilities of Balochistan from open source websites as well as from Dghs (Provincial Health Directorate), Balochistan. Then using Arcgis pro and Arcgis Api for python, mapping and analysis will be performed on the available data and those maps and findings will be integrated in to the website using Arcgis api for javascript through which all stakeholders and others will be able to see the analysis and make better decisions. Testing and re-analysis will be part of the project since there is a high possibility of data change over the course of time. 

Benefits of the Project

The project will prove to be beneficial not only to Government officials but also to other stakeholders.They will be able to determine locations for new facilities which will not only help in reducing the extra costs but will help in increasing the accessibility of health facilities to general public. Furthermore, upgradation suggestion module of the project will help in determining that whether some facilities need to be upgraded in terms of machinery, equipment and other things and will also help in making decisions that whether a new healthcare center is needed for a particular place or if upgradation is only needed of existing facility.  

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

In the final deliverable, a fully functional website will be deployed which will be integrated with ArcGIS pro using ArcGIS api for javascript. All the necessary changes will be done on Arcgis pro which will be then visible on to the website. There will be three classes of users who will be using the website. 

  1. Users, who will be students, and general public and they will be able to use the website without logging into the system. They will be able to assess the current healthcare facilities of Balochistan and provide feedback and request changes to the maps if they see any issue.
  2. Professional users, who will include Spatial Decision Support Systems lab members, GIS experts, GIS network analysts, testers and relevant organizations’ and Government members. They will be able to login in to the system and see current healthcare facilities, find optimal locations, view upgradation suggestion and request for changes to administrator.
  3. Administrator, who will have access to the complete system and will be able to make any changes if required, to the system.
