Extraction of diesel from solid waste
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn Pakistan there are lot of issues regarding the house waste. There is not any proper way to utilize this waste. According to the government of Pakistan daily estimated solid waste is about 87000 tons in the whole country. In Karachi it is about 13500 tons and in Rawalpindi it is about 4000 tons There are also a lot of huge problems which people are facing in these areas like pollution, health etc. Therefore, this project is about the need for the use of solid waste in a productive way. Therefore, this project is about the use of the solid plastic waste for the extraction of diesel. This helps us to get rid of this garbage, reduction of environmental and social problems on the disposal site.
Project Objectives- Extraction of diesel
- Purification of obtained diesel
The method which is adopted for the implementation of the project is pyrolysis. The waste can be added to the boiler continuously or in batches, depending on the design of the plant. The waste is added to the boiler by using the automation techniques. The temperature of the boiler or the flask is raised up to 250 degree Celsius by continuous heating. here the temperature of the boiler is maintained by using sensors which control the heating system. Then we use nitrogen gas in the combustion chamber to remove oxygen to melt the plastic. Our aim is to melt the plastic not to burn it. Then the condenser will be used to convert the vapors into the liquid form which is then collected in a container.
Benefits of the Project- To use solid waste in productive way.
- Reduction of environment pollution.
- Overcome of social issues occurring from illegal waste disposal
- Production of cost effective diesel.
- Cleaner environment for better public.
The end product which will be obtained is diesel. Diesel is extracted from the plastic after continuous heating at a temperate ranging from 200 degree Celsius to 300 degree Celsius. 800ml diesel can be obtained from 1kg of plastic. the diesel which we get is in not in pure form and in order to purify filters will be used.
