Energy Monitoring System For Houses and Small Industries
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe current energy crisis required a significant reduction of consumption in all areas. The energy crisis can be overcome by the Energy Monitoring. For this project, we monitor the Energy by measuring voltage and current from distribution box.Fetching the data in micro-controller(Arduino). Take the data from micro-controller and send the data by Wi-Fi Module(ESP8266). WiFi module updates the data-base(thing speak). We can check our consumption on daily/hourly basis on our PC/Mobile using public IP address. We make a proto-type and also implement a seperate system with a distribution box.
Project Objectives- The aim of this project is to propose a low-cost tool for monitoring energy consumption in a home or small business.
- Make a system that can show us usage of energy by hourly/daily basis.
- Maintaining Data-Base(Thing Speak).
A 220V ac supply coming from WAPDA used as input of system and output is limited to 5V through transformer. A voltage sensor in parallel is used in which step down transformer used as to limit voltage to 6V from 220V. We also used a current sensor ACS-712 which is used to measure the current in analog form connected in series with load. Output of voltage sensor and current sensor is fed into the Arduino controller where after coding actual value of current is determined. LCD is used to display all the data. Wi-Fi Module is used to send data to data base we made.
Benefits of the ProjectUsed in houses & industries for real-time observation of electricity consumption.
Monitoring usage of energy to reduce costs.
Monitoring from App(IOT).
