But the population is increasing day by day and the conventional energy sources are diminishing.[2] Moreover, these conventional energy sources are polluting and Responsible for global warming. So, Non Conventional Sources are needed for a clean, environment friendly and sustainable power generation. In this Project I Propose a renewable non-conventional energy source based on a speed breaker Mechanism. This project is to enlighten the streets utilizing the jerking pressure which is wasted during the vehicles passes over speed breakers roadside. We can tap the energy generated by moving vehicles and produce power by using the speed breaker as a power generating unit. [1] The kinetic energy of the moving vehicles can be converted into mechanical energy through rack and pinion mechanism and this mechanical energy will be converted to electrical energy using a generator which will be used for lighting the street lights. [2]
Project ObjectivesTo make a reliable efficient mechanical assembly to generate electricity on small scale for small loads i.e. street lights , Shops,Parks etc.
To remove street lights load from national grid and make it independent.
To develop cost effective , eco friendly and reliable electricity Generation for public use
Project Implementation MethodFinalized design for speed Breaker.
Design 4 would be the finalized design for power hump.
This design contains lesser mechanical parts than other three hence economical.
First we Will simulates this Design on Auto Disk (360 fission) software and Analysed the results
On the Basis of the results we will design prototype hardware to check the progress Practically

This system is required to convert the basic vertical reciprocating motion of the Speed Bump system into rotary motion of the gears.
For this a rack and pinion mechanism is used.
The vehicle load acted upon the speed breaker is transmitted to rack and pinion arrangements.
This vertical motion is converted to rotary motion and transmitted to a gear drive arrangement.
The gear wheel with the larger diameter is coupled to the pinion and these two are mounted on the same shaft.
The rotational motion is handed to this gear wheel of larger diameter from pinion.
The smaller gear is meshed to the larger gear.
Therefore, as the larger gear rotates, it increases the speed of the smaller gear and multiplies it to more intensity.
Mechanical parts and their role :
Though the speed due to the rotational motion achieved at the pinion is less, the final speed achieved is high, as the power is transmitted to gears.
The smaller gear is coupled to the dynamo or generator.
Thus mechanical energy is available at the output of the motion conversion system.
Electrical part:
In this system the mechanical energy available at the smaller gear (i.e. at the output of the motion conversion system) is converted to electrical energy by means of a dynamo or generator.
The smaller gear is coupled to the dynamo or generator.
The conversion will be proportional to traffic density.
Benefits of the ProjectPower generation using speed breaker system can be used in most of the places such as:
1. This technique can be used in all roadways Speed breaker.
2. This technique can be used in all highways.
This mechanism of generating of electricity can be placed on the actual speed breaker of the roads. The power is generated when the vehicles pass through it. Which in can be stored in the battery. This power can be used in many places after using the inverter, which enhances in the voltage from 12 volts to 230 volts. This power can be used in the following:
1. Street Lights.
2. Road Signals.
3. Sign boards on the roads.
4. Lighting of the bus stops.
5. Lighting of the check post on the highways etc.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe utilization of energy is an indication of the growth of a nation. One might conclude that to be materially rich and prosperous, a human being needs to consume more and more energy. And this paper is best source of energy that we get in day to day life.
