Nowadays due to the scarcity of conventional energy sources there is a need to use renewable sources of energy. This project deals with the system which will develop power using gym equipment. We are using humans as the power source operating the gym equipment. This equipment is designed to act as a piece of exercise equipment as well as a source of power generation. For this operation, the reciprocating motion of the equipment will be converted into rotary motion using rack & pinion arrangement (composed of portable electricity generator (PEG)) & the speed of rotation will be increased by using a chain drive as the method of gear reduction or we will use a worm gear mechanism for increasing the torque. Furthermore, an alternator or a dc generator will be used to convert the rotary motion into electrical energy

Project Objectives

1. To use human efforts for the generation of electrical energy

2. To find new sources of renewable energy

Project Implementation Method

1. First, Triceps push down machine will be used and its pulley would be constantly rotating

2. We will design a mechanism & mechanical structure on the pulley

3. The mechanical structure would connect a generator or an alternator with the machine pulley

4. The electrical energy will be used to charge the portable battery

5. We will use a microcontroller and LCD display to monitor the overall power generation and the status of the load

Benefits of the Project

This will be helpful to reduce energy crisis because Pakistan is suffering from energy crises since last four decades. Pakistan produces about 81 per cent of its electricity through oil and gas. These sources are getting more expensive and have volatile international prices. . This will create a need of an alternate energy solution that can reduce our dependence on coal, oil and natural gas. Our project is environment friendly. Its maintenance is easy and cheap. uWe would monitor it through the microcontroller to know about the power generation and the load status.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Pulley will be connected to the DC Motor. When the pulley will be rotated DC Motor shaft will rotate and with this electricity generation will be possible. A battery will be connected as a load. We will use a microcontroller and LCD display to monitor the overall power generation and the status of the load
