Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryA project is designed to develop a smart electric bike (e-bike) for the students of university campus to aid them in traveling great distances within their educational institute. This is an attempt to reduce the carbon-footprint of the university and to provide a sustainable eco-friendly environment by lowering the dependency of students on the use of bus-shuttles and rickshaws within the campus. During this project, a regular bicycle will be converted to an electric bicycle (namely Eco Bike) with many proposed smart features like GPS tracking through real-time Mobile App/website; controlling of e-bike remotely; smart locking/unlocking through fingerprint scanning; touch screen based controlling/monitoring of e-bike features including battery level, speed, route, etc. This e-bike will provide an efficient and flexible traveling solution with zero carbon-emission & cost-effective alternatives to the campus students.
Project ObjectivesThe proposed goals of the project Eco Bike are as follows:

To provide students with a more economical and convenient form of transportation within campus.

To encourage a more environmentally beneficial form of transportation, as there will be no harmful carbon emissions into the environment.

To give students a rapid, flexible, and secure way of transportation.
For the e-bike project, the group members will test the performance of many motors with varied power ratings & rpms to help select an efficient motor for the project. After converting the bike into an e-bike, GPS and GSM modules along with multiple other sensors for speed and fingerprint scanning will be integrated to the bike system. All of the sensors and modules will be connected to a microcontroller system and programmed to achieve the targeted goal. In addition, a 2.4-inch screen will be connected to the e-bike smart system to monitor/display the speed and battery levels.
Beside all the above mentioned hardware level features, a primitive mobile app / website will also be developed to track the Eco Bike and log its necessary information by utilizing the data saved in the microcontroller system with firebase servers.

The final electric bike (Eco Bike) will have a number of distinguishing features including GPS tracking, fingerprint based locking/unlocking, a graphical touchscreen to control & monitor statistics of the bike, etc. There will also be a website/mobile app to monitor/track the e-bike and provide/log the information about the current rider.
