Development of self powered voice assistant intelligent blind stick
The technique has been designed for visually impaired people for navigation in an efficient manner for their safety. This technique is beneficial for blind people in society. The blind can get rid of their dependency on any other and can walk easily with the help of an intelligent stick. In our approach, we will design a prototype that detects a hurdle and object in the route of a blind and alarm that person and give him a correct direction to move. The headset will always be in our subject's ear, guiding him and acting as an assistant. To modify the length of our stick, we'll use a lead screw driven by a stepper motor, which will make it suitable for any blind.
We can make the white cane intelligent with the use of sensors and a stepper motor. Arduino is used for the control of module sensors, buzzers, and motors. The ultrasonic sensor and infrared sensor are utilized for the determination of hurdles and distance. A nerve sensor is for determining the nerve system of a blind person, GSM module is on the stick for emergency purposes, and for guidance. The vibration motor is used as alternative guidance for a person. This whole system is worked by a rechargeable battery. It can be charged by the small solar plate and induced motor. In case of increasing or decreasing heartbeat, Arduino will generate the emergency message and send this message with location through GPS/GSM module to his kith and kins. For overcoming the noise problem, we will use headphones. For the variation of our stick length, we will use stepper motor with lead screw mechanism.
We will use a rechargeable battery that will be charged with solar power The power obtained from solar combination is used to run the system mounted on the stick. We are using a new technique of the GSM module. We are using 1Sheeld to connect our prototype with a smartphone that will provide cheap and efficient aid for a blind person and provide some artificial vision by giving him information about the environment. Vibration and voice are the outputs that will assist the blind to move towards his destination. If a severe condition happens to a person, the system will inform their relatives by sending the message by SMS.
It is helpful for blind persons in society to get rid of dependency of other people and get benefit from the stick.
