Development of MPPT based solar charge controller
The project is based on extracting maximum available power from solar panel or Photovoltaic (PV) module in order to utilize renewable source effectively. PV system is sensitive to irradiance and Temperature, hence effect the performance. The voltage-current V-I curve at particular irradiance has a point which gives maximum power. So, designing the Direct based maximum power point tracker (MPPT) algorithm which ensures to track this point in real time. The project has some other features like it prevent battery overcharging and discharging, and shows the real time value of voltage, current, power, temperature, irradiance etc.
The main task of this project is to design and compare the efficiency of two direct based maximum power point tracker (MPPT) algorithms so that solar system extract more available energy.
Firstly the model of entire system is made on MATLAB software. Then the algorithm is designed and implemented on model. System is analysed on the MATLAB. Similarly another algorithm is designed and analysed. After this sytem is made practically and above algorithm is implemented in real time.

Solar energy is available for free, so system is cheaper than other electrical source.
Algorithm and converter ensures the system is extracting maximum available energy.
Since energy is stored in battery so even it could be used at night time.
The solar PV system's efficiency greatly affected by environmsntal conditions that is irradiance and temperature. So, our task is to develop such a system with the help of algorithm and power converter to tackle the environmental condtion. The project has the ability to extract maximum energy from solar panel with the help of algorithm and power converter. The electrical energy from solar panel is stored in the battery. Battries life time can be increased by it to prevent from charging and discharging. The system could provide the energy to the load even when the solar panel is not illuminated due to energy stored in battery.
