Initially, direct point-to-point wires were used to connect components in avionics systems. But when the complexity of the systems in the aircraft began to increase, the wiring became both very complex and heavy. To overcome these difficulties 1553 serial data bus standard was introduced.
MIL-STD-1553B is a military standard and is a widely popular, standard data bus that has been employed for data transmission in a variety of aerospace and defense systems. It is high in speed and more versatile in communications systems.
By using FPGA, the core of the communication protocol of MIL-STD 1553B will be implemented. The working of FPGA using research work and designer guides will be implemented to design core.
Project requirements are in two phases: In the first phase the working customized Board with Mil-Std 1553B Communication Interface will be implemented on FPGA and Verilog implementation of Mil-Std 1553B Communication Protocol will be done. In the second and last phase, Documentation (Top Level Design, Detailed Design of Board & Source Code) and Source Code and Programming Environment will be done.
Project Objectives- The core intention of this project is to supplement the aviation industry by developing a core of MIL-STD 1553B communication protocol and give full control over it.
- Under this project, a working customized board will be developed with communication protocols and interfaces.
- Literature review and designers guide review will be carried out.
- The Technique selected after the initial literature review will be implemented using FPGA and Verilog.
- Next, the implemented technique will be checked, tested and analyzed by the previous work and the final design would be made.
- This project will give full control on the core of communication protocol of MIL-STD 1553B
- After completion of the project, it will be linked to MUX Bus Interface (MBI)
- It would help in the aviation industry as currently there is no full control on core of this.
- Literature review and designers guide review.
- Implementation using FPGA and Verilog.
- The final design of working for a customized board with communication interfaces.
