With the evolution of the aircraft industry, avionics systems also played important role in the advancement and improvement of this industry. Initially, direct point-to-point wires were used to connect components in avionics systems. But when the complexity of the systems in the aircraft began to increase, the wiring became both very complex and heavy. To overcome these difficulties 1553 serial data bus standard was introduced.

MIL-STD-1553B is a military standard and is a widely popular, standard data bus that has been employed for data transmission in a variety of aerospace and defense systems. It is high in speed and more versatile in communications systems.

By using FPGA, the core of the communication protocol of MIL-STD 1553B will be implemented. The working of FPGA using research work and designer guides will be implemented to design core.

Project requirements are in two phases: In the first phase the working customized Board with Mil-Std 1553B Communication Interface will be implemented on FPGA and Verilog implementation of Mil-Std 1553B Communication Protocol will be done. In the second and last phase, Documentation (Top Level Design, Detailed Design of Board & Source Code) and Source Code and Programming Environment will be done.
