The system uses an Odroid XU4 with 8-processing cores. The thermal imaging camera takes raw images from the near infrared thermal sensor using python programming language. Project ObjectivesDevelopment of a high precision contact-less system for agricultural applications that detects the moisture and temperature of crops using a thermal imaging sensor, then processes it using microprocessor based system and takes an advanced decision.
Project Implementation MethodThis project basically detects moisture level in crops using a thermal camera. This camera displays objects of different colors and colors that reflect different heat dimensions. It works on the principle of electromagnetic radiation within the infrared (wavelengths of 1 to 14 microns). We have two sensor units, processing unit and programming environment. Two types of sensor are used major one is thermal sensor which collect raw data in the form of temperature/heat patterns within the range of infrared light which follows electromagnetic spectrum. Then from result/output 7 inch LCD display screen is used. Android XU-4 single board computer is used as processing unit which have 8 CPUs, DRAM, SDRAM, 32 GB, HDMI interfacing for display sensor and RS232 interfacing for thermal sensor. For programming, we used python language and in final step we move towards machine learning for smarter and effective use of this product in the industry.
Benefits of the ProjectThis system is automatic, precise, moveable, flexible, intelligent and cost effective. This system will be easy to use not so much experts are needed to operate this system.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableWe already completed hardware by assembling sensor units and processing unit now, we are working on programming environments for the processing of raw data collected by thermal sensor and then we have to train our system through machine learning process. Insha Allah it will be ready sooner than expected date and at the end of March, our project will be in a complete running form and it will work in real-time.
