Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryThe purpose of this project is to develop the link between academia and industry. Moreover, students will have a better understanding about the professional working environment. The opportunity is very suitable to enhance the engineering skills of the students.The Workshop Building contains electrical/instrumental spare parts and machineries for which temperature control is an essential requirement. As we are aware that harsh weather conditions are not favorable for the heat producing machineries and for the spare parts kept in the stores and the tool room. So, in this regard a detailed HVAC design for New Workshop Building shall be developed in compliance with authority regulation & international standards.
Project ObjectivesThe project involves site surveying to collect relevant data/information for proceeding the project. There are several methods employed globally for cooling load estimations where we would be using ‘Cooling Load temperature difference (CLTD) method’ and ‘ASHRAE-endorsed transfer function method’ HAP analysis for performing cooling load calculations and its validation.The tasks to be done for the completion of the project, initially includes complete site surveying for relevant data collection thendrawing an architectural plan for the workshop building employing any suitable software (both ground and first floor).Calculating the cooling load for the building vicinity employing HAP software, and validation of results using manual calculations.Then designing the ducting system for suitable Air conditioning using MCQUAY duct sizer as well as representing the duct in the floor plan. Afterwards, selecting a reasonable chiller unit and AHU according to the load requirements.
