Accessible and affordable electricity is a major global issue. Waterotor is a hydrokinetic technology to harness energy from horizontally flowing water. It is useful in this era of modern technology to overcome the energy shortfalls in areas where electricity is unavailable despite having a high energy resource.

Sustainable, environmentally friendly, easily accessible electricity is one of the needs of the hour. So, a technology breakthrough like Waterotor will act as a game-changer in the renewable energy sector to overcome the energy shortfalls while providing electricity to far-flung areas where electricity is unavailable even in this modern era of technology.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the project are :

To introduce an electricity generation system for remote areas.

To devise a system that is environmentally friendly and sustainable.

To introduce an electricity generation system that can overcome energy shortage by using existing renewable resources.

Project Implementation Method

The CAD model has been completed using the Solidworks 2018 version. The fabrication is being carried out and after its completion, the prototype will be tested to analyze its performance. The Simulation will be performed using ANSYS to analyze the fluid dynamics of the prototype.

  1. Introduction of an efficient energy production method for remote areas.
  2. The system is portable and can be used anywhere there is a water resource.
  3. The system is easy to use 
  4. It may be used for personal purpose 
  5. It may be used to provide energy for ships and other offshore process utilization purposes.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable

After the completion of the project, a modified version of the Savonius type turbine will be obtained that would be used to generate electricity from slowly flowing water. The ongoing project will produce approximately 70-80 Watt of electric power.
