Design and Fabrication of Unmanned Fire Fighting ground Vehicle
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryFire Fighting is a challenging platform especially when fire is spread out away from center and infrastructure is fully damaged. According to a report published in 'The Nations' Pakistan, faced a loss of 400 billion till 2012 due to fire incidents. The fire incidents kill 16,500 people and leave 164,000 injured or disabled every year across the country.
It becomes difficult for the Fire Fighters to access the target point or origin of fire due to the high temperature, toxic gases and loss of structural integrity.
In this project an Unmanned Fire Fighting ground vehicle is proposed, which is capable of working under high temperature, equipped with wireless operated fire monitor (Water cannon), cameras and temperature sensors to assist Fire Fighters. In this way potential risk to Fire Fighters lives can be reduced and Fire Fighting can be made more effective.
Project ObjectivesOur aim is to Design and Fabricate an Unmanned Fire-Fighting ground vehicle (UGV) which is capable of:
- Operating under high temperature.
- Moving on complex ground conditions i.e. stairs, uneven terrain and over the debris of the structures.
- Equipped with wireless operated Fire monitors (Water cannon) ,Camera and temperature sensors to assist Fire Fighters.
A basic step to start any project is to review existing literature about the project. So, literature review will be completed according to following sections;
- Stability of the Vehicle
- Study of Fire Environment
- Study of Building codes in Pakistan
- Study and comparison of existing designs
- Material Selection
- Insulation Selection
After the identifctaion of different parameters about the design from Literature review following methdology will be followed;
- Component optimization
- CAD modeling of the design
- Setting the position of “Center of mass” of UGV
- Impact Analysis of the Design
- Thermal Analysis of the Design
- Design Improvement
- Fabrication of the designed UGV
- Testing of UGV
The proposed project will help to;
- Reduce potential risk to Fire Fighhters lives due to high temperatures, toxic gases and loss of structural integrity.
- Human lives saving through effective Fire extinguishing.
- Saving strategical assets from fire.
- Locating and extinguishing fire from origin and saving from widespread.
Unmanned Fire Fighting ground vehicle will be Equipped with;
- Track sytem to make it capable of ascending and descending on stairs, moving over debris of the structures and rough terrain.
- Wireless operated Fire monitor(Water cannon) capable of sprinkling or ejecting jet of water according to requirement.
- Wireless cameras to assist Fire Fighter for guiding the vehicle to exact target.
- Temperature Sensors to monitor conditions continuously.
