Project Summary

Industry 4.0 has been considered a new industrial stage in which several emerging technologies are converging to provide digital solutions. The key aim of industry 4.0 is digitalization. Everything like production system, machines operator and services are going digital very swift. The application of new emerging technology based on cyber physical system and internet of things (IoT) will lead to significant improvement like automation and fastness of production system. We want to design a prototype for industrial rig based on industry 4.0 technology.in broad spectrum this technology is applicable everywhere, but this project particularly targets pharmaceutical industry. The industries are adopting the concept of smart factory where the technological advancement provides automated system to pharmaceutical industry for fulfilling the needs of customers. It includes the unit having a computer receiving customers’ demands and information and this computer will also have the information about the composition of the specific product. and wireless communication system for transferring the data from the host computer to a variety of computers, Next comes the filling unit. The filling unit includes system for dispensing, counting, and packaging of the product. A robotic arm at the end of the unit will pick a batch of medicine and place it in a storage compartment

Project Objectives

Our project is to design a prototype for reconfigurable industrial rig based on industry 4.0 technology. currently we can see that a lot of industries are adopting technological advancements and conventional manufacturing processes started to vanish. like every industry makes a product but packaging is the final and most important part of every industry. but we will consider pharmaceutical industry for instance in our project. where liquid medicine filling is done. later, this approach can be implemented in almost every industry. and it will not only speed up the manufacturing process, but reduce the need of labor force and create employment for technical staff

Project Implementation Method

Industry 4.0 involves integration of different systems like IoT, Automation and computer technology. The technological advancement in the field of pharmaceutical industry provide fast solution to the need of customer. This concept will lead to the auto fulfilling of customer needs and control the whole processes through clouds. It includes the unit having a computer receiving customers’ demands and information and this computer will also have the information about the composition of the specific product. and wireless communication system for transferring the data from the host computer to a variety of computers. Next comes the filling unit. The filling unit includes system for dispensing, counting, and packaging of the product. The basic key concept behind the project is reconfigurability, it gives manufactures an edge to remove or add any component without any modification

Benefits of the Project

In nutshell “industry 4.0” bring a lot of change in industrial processes using advanced technology. It can not only be counted as evolution in industrial process, but it also has a great impact on corporations. From the market point of view, digital technologies enable corporations to offer new digital services for customers, such as internet-based services implanted in products There is very high probability that even conventional industries will adopt this approach. Emergence of new sorts of organizations can be foreseen which will adopt this revolution. Modeling, designing, and implementation of such a complex system is a very difficult task but its maintenance is also a major concern and there would be need of experts in that field. If we automate the system, it will reduce the need of labor force but on the other hand it will create vacancy for some technical staff for militance and supervisory purpose.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The pharma industry is developing as never before. Much of this transformation is being led by better connectivity and Industry 4.0 — the fourth industrial revolution. Uninterrupted manufacturing is an enabler of both digitalization and the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). It makes it practical to collect and examine real-time information, speed up production methods and run more effective production lines that provide quality goods at a lowered price.
