DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF AUTONOMOUS BOMB DISPOSAL ROBOT
Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryNearly in all EOD operations it’s dangerous to approach the detonation device let alone handle it. Special Training for EOD operations do help the disposal team to render the bomb inert but still bomb disposal operations can cost human life.
Now, to make such operations succeed with high efficiency we can design an EOD robot. Here in this project we will be designing an EOD robot with simple gripper for pick and drop purpose just to aid the disposal team to some extent
Project ObjectivesThe project aims to develop a robot to aid the disposal team in EOD operations so that efficiency could be improved of such operations. We are not planning for developing a complete automated robot so that it can perform a whole operation on its own but a robot to aid a team with its gripper for solely pick and drop purpose to carry a bomb to a rather safe area. By carrying a bomb to a safe area we will make sure that even if the operation fails it will not harm the residents or other civilian within that area. However, we are also planning to automate this further, automation will include gesture control.
Project Implementation MethodWe will be working using SCRUM methodology for the completion of our project. We’ve developed our project backlog which is following:
The very first step for this project will be the mathematical model for the design then we will develop a complete model using SOLIDWORKS software which will then be imported to the GAZEBO for further stability tests and controller design. Next, we will be working on the RF system for our robot. Then finally our last step, but optional, is to automate it by using the knowledge of gesture control systems.
These tasks are further break down into sub tasks (SPRINTS) so as to hand out each sub task to individual personnel on the team.
Benefits of the ProjectThis project will increase the operations efficiency to some extent
By the help of this project we will be able to carry the bomb at safe location and then work on it.
Further automation and tests will keep running on this projects and thus benefits will also increase.
