This Mockup will include complete chain from Inceptor to Control surface and also show the control surface response & aircraft attitude on LCD Display.
We will have to develop the complete model using Matlab / Simulink (Simscape)
An airplane model of wing section and aft fuselage will be used to demonstrate control surface movement. The control surface actuation will be in response to a simulated aerodynamic environment.
All control axis channels will implement Quadruplex level redundancies.
We will have to develop the complete hardware for all three control axis after developing all simulations,

Project Objectives- Understand working of Fly by Wire Control System
- Simulation of FBW System
- Implementation of Hardware
In this project we will have to design a mock up Fly by Wire system. First complete simulation will be developed. In simulation, a potentiometer will be attached to provide different values for the input. Using Micro-controllers the analog data will be converted to digital form using ADC (Analog to digital converter). This data will be used to change the position of the motor attached with the micro-controller. DAC (digital to analog converter) will be used to convert digital data to analog on the output side. We will also attach a monitoring loop using another micro-controller. Monitoring loop will ensure safe operation envelope by considering different factors such as angle of attack, altitude, speed and current position of control surface (motor). If applied input is not in safe operation envelope, Monitoring loop will decrease the angle of deflection of control surface (motor) accordingly .After developing the whole simulation, the same process will be performed on hardware.
Initially projects covers the one control surface of the aircraft but after developing the basics, same process will be used for the two other control surfaces,
Benefits of the ProjectThe mock up will provide a very useful test setup for students to learn and experiment FBW systems. The set up could even be used for flight control related research work in post graduate programs.
