Design and control boost converter for addressing the voltage mismatch problems in parallel configuration of pv modules
Our FYP is to mitigate the effects of module mismatch in a photovoltaic (PV) system. Unlike software solutions, i.e. the maximum power tracking algorithm, hardware techniques are well suited to enhance energy yield because of their inherent ability to extract energy from the mismatched module. Despite the extra cost of the additional circuitry, hardware techniques have recently gained popularity because of their long-term financial benefits. This work presents the requirements of the intra-module converter in photovoltaic system and also discusses the different factors that need to consider while implementing a DC-DC converter.
We design the PV-modules, buck-boost converter and PI controller. Then we connect the PV modules in parallel. We control the duty cycle of DC-DC converters with PI controller. To get the desired voltage at the output, we use the boost converters.
The benefit of our FYP is that it increases the efficiency of PV modules. By using this FYP society get maximum power at lower cost.
Cheap- with the advent of mass production, the cost of implementation is cheaper and a solution easily within grasp of a common man.
Clean and Safe – unlike other resources that create waste, solar power is clean and safe.
Intensive energy supply – Solar power is one of the commodities that tend to never run out.
In our FYP, we use the following technical components:
PV- modules: These modules are used to convert solar energy into electrical energy.
Boost converter: It steps up the voltage to desired value.
Buck boost converter: It solve the voltage mismatch problem of PV modules.
PI controller: It control the duty cycle of converters.
