Desiccant Wheel Design Fabrication and Economical Analysis of Desiccant Cooler
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryHigh initial, operating and maintenance cost of air conditioning systems make them uneconomical. Many Air Conditioning Cycles use refrigerants which are threat to our environment and ozone depleting. Use of Air coolers cause humidity and production of bacteria which results in health problems.
So there is need of such a cooling cycle which provides fresh conditioned air with using of harmful refrigerants as well as it should be economical and eco friendly and such a system is obtained by Desiccant Cooling. Desiccant Cooling is a clean cooling cycle allows the implementation of desiccant material and thermal means to achieve both cooling and dehumidification and Desiccant Cooler is the device that works on the desiccant cooling cycle.
Project ObjectivesAim of the Project
To provide a better, economical, and eco friendly air conditioning system.
Objectives
•Design a controlled system that creates harsh temperature and humidity conditions for testing.
•Design a Desiccant wheel for dehumidification purposes.
•Fabrication of Desiccant Cooler that operates with in the comfort zone of human body.
•Economical analysis between conventional air conditioning system, air cooler and desiccant cooling system.
Project Implementation MethodBrief Methodology of Project is given below

Desiccant Cooler is:
•Eco-Friendly
•Not bulky
•No harmful effect on human body.
•Economical and less maintenance cost.
•Consume less energy as compared to the vapor compression systems.
•Removes moisture from the air without the use of ozone-depleting compounds.
