Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryThe farmers face a lot of difficulties to monitor the health of every plant in an enormously vast crop field and as a result a vast amount of crops are wasted. So, there was a need of a system that could monitor the health of every crop so we decided to introduce a system that would take pictures and after processing it will display the decay percentage on the map .As a result it will minimize crop wastage, saves time, effort and money.
Project ObjectivesTo re-arm Pakistani farmers by introducing technology in the agriculture sector so that they can optimum utilize the technology for lesser crop wastage and growing healthier crops.
Project Implementation MethodAgile methodology is used due to its nature of being flexible.
Technology is 'Computer Vision'
Following is the method:
- Taking pictures of leaves with geo-tagging.
- Offline processing for pest detection.
- Feature extraction.
- Calculating the decay percentage
- display decay percentage on map
- Lessen crop wastage
- Early pest detection
- less use of pesticides
- health benefits
- Saves money
- Saves time
- Saves effort
A system that will take images of leaves, apply machine learning and image processing algorithms on images, calculating the decay percentage and displaying it on a map.
The map will help the farmer to know about the areas and how much pesticides he should use on specific areas based on the decay percentage.
