Crop Protection and Surveillance Drone with Soil Sensors
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryAgriculture being the biggest industry of Pakistan is sill technophobic and use primitive methods for production. Our team majorly focus on providing a facility for residential (backyard garden/lawn) or small/medium agriculture farms.
Agricultural drones allow the farmer to manage crops, soil, fertilizing and irrigation more effectively. There are huge benefits both to the farmer and to the wider environment by minimizing the use of sprays, fertilizers, wastage of water and at the same time increasing the yield from crops.
We are using automated drones for surveillance with onboard imaging system, the drone can transmit data to a control unit, users can view high definition video quality images showing the health of their crops/garden/lawn or predefined targets.
A sensor network is used that aggregates information about the soil across farmland and allows the farmer to intelligently make decision on where to water and fertilize crops.
The whole technology is user friendly and very easy to use even for technologically illiterate users.
Project Objectives- An agricultural drone which helps the farmer in surveillance of fields/crops.
- An easy to use UI for illiterate people.
- Crop Surveillance with oboard imaging processing and analysis
- Soil Sensors with data aggregation
- Displaying of data in a way which is very easy to understand
The proposed system is an embedded system which will closely monitor the crops using cameras by image processing and analysis to identify pests, disease and weeds and manage livestock. The system comprises of sensors, analog to digital converters, microcontroller implemented on a flight controllers, creating a robust drone. The aggregated data is sent to the local network connected tablet or surveillance device.
Benefits of the Project- Identify pests, diseases and weeds
- Provide data on soil fertility and refine fertilization by detecting nutrient deficiencies.
- Estimate crop yield and focus on echancing yeild.
- Measure irrigation. Control crop irrigation by identifying areas where water stress is suspected.
- View damage to crops from farm machinery
- Survey fencing and farm buildings. (Optional)
- Monitor livestock. (Optional)
- Agricultural Drone
- Tablet or Application for Aquisition of Data
