• We belong to a backward and ignored area of KP known as Bannu. We have a tribal culture where women have no opportunities to either work or to have their own business.
• So providing the business opportunity to them, Craft & Stitch is an android base application for buying and selling homemade handicrafts and knitted items for those experienced Artists who want to sale their products but could not sale due to some reasons.
  • Such as Women from backward areas are making such attractive and delightful items but they are often illiterate so that they cannot communicate with their customers. OR
  • Prisoners make beautiful kitted and other handicraft products but they could not showcase it for public / customers.
  • With the help of Craft & Stitch App, we can sell the products of the needy (orphans, widows and poor) females who have no other means of earning. At the same time the idea involves the inhabitants of prison whom are left at the mercy of no one but the uncaring jail authorities. Actually these are basically hand-made textile and other decorative products which currently have no market presence. These are unique products prepared by the females and prisoners in jail and they are liked by the general public because they cater to the traditional needs of the society.

Project Objectives

Following are the objectives of the Project:

• To develop a user friendly android application to provide one click functionality that helps the user to search over a variety of products at a centralized location.  
• To provide easy access to professional / skilful artists etc. 
• To shop in the comfort of one’s own home, without having to step out of the door.
• Customers can also pay online through credit cards so security is must, therefore it will provide secure transactions.
• To saves time and effort of the customers.
• To facilitate the jobless technical students.

Project Implementation Method

The activities for the application development process are listed as follows:

Pre Development Survey:

In the initial stage, we will conduct ground survey regarding the need for developing “Craft & Stitch” application. We will gather the customer’s requirements that we will use as an input to the proposed android application.

Android-Based app Development:

• Setup environment for app development
• The registration page for Users / Skillful Professionals   
• Additional Services

The team would develop an android application using Android Studio. The application would be delivered to the users with an interface that is tempting and user-friendly. It would deliver better services by contacting relevant people for the job to the end user and would result in a technological impact among the skillful Professionals (Women / Male) and the Buyers.

Prototype delivery (Via Marketing Personally):

Visiting personally to negotiate with skillful professionals (Specially Skillful Prisoners) to offer their services through this app. We will register all the Individuals who are willing to utilize our app.

Post-Survey:

This survey will be conducted that will provide their feedback in terms of negative, positive or neutral. Moreover they can suggest extra features and services to the app. This survey will help us in extending the app with new features if needed.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The proposed app will make the crafting and stitching experts register with their own details and item variety. They will be able to present and sale their items using the proposed Andriod app. All those Crafting and Stitching professionals that are unaware of the use of technology and smartphone applications will be able to contact us, give us their attractive items along with the price details so that we can sell it for them.

Moreover, we will collect handmade items from the prisoners and will create a separate selling profile for their items. The android application based online shopping of the told items will help in generating more revenue and attracting more customers, as the proposed app will deliver the items in a timely manner.
