Project Summary

Covid-19 being the cause of the current pandemic it’s diagnosis to be fast is very crucial for the hospital and health care centres, Therefore they need some intelligent system for diagnosing the Covid-19 from the X-Rays. If we detect Covid-19 from millions of X-Rays, it will consume a lot of time and energy. Furthermore, it will be easy for novice/common people to identify Covid-19 through their X-Rays if they have Covid-19. We can create a smart system that can diagnose whether a patient is suffering from Covid-19 or not. The user will feed a digital copy of X-Ray to the smart app and then this app will tell about its COVID-19 condition.

To build this system we will be gathering data from multiple hospitals and labs of Pakistan, and use certain tools and techniques such as Image Processing and Deep Learning to detect Covid-19 from X-Rays. For the interface/application we will be using Angular for frontend of the application, FastAPI for the backend of the application and PostgreSQL to manage the data.

The application will contain a dashboard for real-time analysis for everyone to view the current insights about Covid-19 and an interface to feed a digital X-Ray to detect Covid-19 from the X-Ray

Project Objectives

  • To have a universal portal for Covid-19 for doctors and patients with features such as online Covid-19 detection by just feeding an X-Ray.
  • To explore the real-time analysis of the current Covid-19 cases.
  • To provide an interactive dashboard to users to understand the seriousness of the situation of COVID-19

Project Implementation Method

Convolution Neural Network

Convolutional neural network is a class of artificial neural network. It is used on image data for analyzing images and detecting things in images.

OpenCV

OpenCV is a library of programming functions mainly used for real-time computer vision. We will use it for image processing of X-ray data.

FastAPI

It is a python framework to build fast and efficient application programming interfaces (API), we will be using this framework to build the backend of our application to deploy our model and controllers.

ReactJs

It is a NodeJs based framework to develop powerful frontends, which we will be using to obviously, design and develop the front-end of our application.

RestAPI

Representational State Transfer is a web service to communicate with an api service. Which will help us with communication between the front-end and the back-end of our application.

PostgreSQL

It is a SQL based relational database management system, which we will be using for the same.

Benefits of the Project

Covid-19 detection tests currently take at-least 24 hours to provide the results, it takes a lot of effort and time to detect whether a patient has Covid-19 or not. Since it is already the cause of the current epidemic we cannot afford to lose time and resources on such sensitive tests.

We would like to provide an easy solution for everyone to detect Covid-19 without much time and resource usage.

Since this is not a hot topic currently in our country, This issue has not been much conveyed in Pakistan. Talking about Pakistan (i.e. has a high number of poverty rates), many people can not afford to have the test from a private institute and the public services are not much trustable.
