In burger preparation, assembling the burgers is the most time-consuming task due to the variety of customer needs. Hence we decided to make burger bot in order to automate the process of burger assembling using PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). The basic idea is to make the bot like an assembly line. Ready ingredients are pre-loaded in the seven different tubes of the bot. The customer will input the number of burgers to be readied and select the type of meat and cheese on Screen. The burger bot will receive the order and complete the process of burger assembling. In the end, a hot-air gun will be used to heat the burger. In this way, we won’t need multiple persons to prepare a burger, as the only required human intervention will be to load the pre-prepared ingredients.
Advantages:
- Required manpower will be reduced as we won’t need multiple persons to prepare a burger. The burger bot will do all the assembling. The only required human intervention will be to load the pre-ready ingredients.
- Our goal is to ready the burger within 4 minutes of the order placement.
Project’s Key features:
- Automation is implemented using PLC, sensors and actuators.
- Canvas Conveyer Belt is used.
- Customization in selecting type of Patty (Beef or Chicken) of customer’s choice.
- All the data from the sensors would be integrated with the controller circuitry.
- Labor work reduced to one person.
Project’s mechanical structure consists of 4 circular- and 3 rectangular-shaped tubes, along with canvas conveyer belt. Their operation will be controlled through PLC, sensors and actuators. Ready ingredients will be pre-loaded in the tubes. After receiving customer’s order, conveyer belt runs and stops under the center of every tube. Each tube adds its ingredient to the burger-in-making and this process is repeated for all 7 tubes. In the end, hot-air gun will heat the burger in order to make the burger warm and ready to serve.
