Project Title

Computer Aided System to Automate Final Year project

Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject Summary

Summary:

Final year project submission and their evaluation is a process that took one year, and during this time there are many things that must be done from the student side, supervisor side and the internal evaluation side, manually. There is not a single platform, an application where student, supervisor, and the internal evaluator can evaluate the FYP’s or go through the whole process. If there is one common ground(application) where students, supervisor and the internal evaluators can see their schedules and evaluate the FYP’s and can have their records, and they do not have to keep track by themselves, that will be great. Computer aided system to automate final year project is a computer aided system to automate FYP’s. The purpose of Computer aided system to automate final year project is to automate whole the procedure of the final year project submission, keep track of the student, milestones definition, best project among the students, the performance graphs, student performance dashboard, milestone definition/evaluation. Student monitoring and criteria to select best student.

Project Objectives

Objectives:

The Aims and Objectives for developing this application are:

1. To automate the whole procedure of FYP’s.

2. To facilitate student in their FYP’s by graphically monitoring.

3. To facilitate faculty to supervise student in their FYP’s.

4. To monitor the working of student for supervisor.

5. To record the meeting of students and supervisor.

6. Milestone definition/evaluation/presentation through interactive graphs.

7. Performance Graph of individual student’s FYP’s.

8. Final & abstract stage by supervisor.

9. Student performance dashboard.

10. Criteria to select best student by comparing multiple students through graphical representation. Runtime comparison, with graphs.

11. Student milestone performance.

Project Implementation Method

Implementation method:

The methodology which will be used in our project is FDD (Feature driven development). FDD proves to be very efficient in bigger and complicated projects. The structure of FDD is easily adaptable and uses a sensible approach with respect to Web Service. Feature Driven Development • Feature Driven Development The following are the steps of FDD that will be considered in our project:

Process one – Develop an overall model: This is the first phase of FDD in which project’s scope will be decided initially. It will decide what this project is, what functionalities this project is going to perform.

Process two – Build a feature list: This phase provides a foundation for upcoming phases. In this phase we will identify features by inspecting model.

Process three – plan by features: This third phase is the most crucial phase where all the planning of the project starts. All the data gathered in previous phase will be documented. Estimate time of completion for each module will be given. Gantt chart and other charts can be used.

Process four – design by feature: In this phase more precision is required on how a system by feature is designed. Sequence diagrams for each module will be made so if there is any error in functionality it can be altered.

Process five – build by feature: This phase is the last phase where the technical part comes in action. After designing phase features one after another will be made. After completion, this project be tested and debugged.

Benefits of the Project

Benefits:

This is a software system a Web based application system. There is main beneficiary of our project which are as:

  1. Students
  2. Internal Evaluators
  3. Supervisor
  4. FYP-Coordinator

This application will help all these beneficiaries in their whole process of final year projects. Student will be able to maintain their track and can visually see their performance with the help of graphs, same goes for the internal evaluators and supervisor to see how the group is doing the project and what their status is. FYP-Coordinator will be managed very easily. He can easily upload, the document with detail maintains the deadlines and all his responsibilities through his portal.

This application will reduce the manual effort and workload and will take all the process to online.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Technical:

This is a software system so it will be a full-fledged Web based application system, UI/UX design will be made with the help of react js and for the database we will use the firebase. Further details are:

  1. React JS.
  2. Firebase console.
  3. Visual studio code.
  4.  Node JS.
  5.  React libraries.
