Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject Summary SUMMARY OF OUR PROJECT:Basically, we are working on a Project named “Coal Mine Control and Monitoring System” using Internet of Things (IOT) which we are going to design for the Safety of the labors who works in the Coal mines.
Our Project helps to Monitor and Control the following physical parameters present inside the Coal Mine i.e., Temperature, Humidity, Smoke, Light Intensity (Control Through LDR), Oxygen Level and Hazard Gases (For Example Methane and Carbon Mono-oxide).
The Concern Authorities Will Monitor these physical Parameters through Mobile Application and these parameters will also display on the LCD attached with the Project Prototype installed inside the Coal Mine. In case of any emergency situation (For example if the defined parameters will up and down) the system will generate the alarm and warn the labors to move towards safety.
This makes the Coal mine a safety mining and the major disaster preservation are effectively solved through our project.
Project Objectives OBJECTIVE OF OUR PROJECT:1)The main Aim and Objective of our project is to protect the life of labors and to monitor and control the physical parameters of Coal Mine which may result to an emergency situation.
2)The system will inform and warn the labors who are working and the mines and also provide them safety and precautions.
3)We are making a mine motoring system for the mines in which we are going to monitor the temperatures, humidity, hazards gases, smoke and oxygen level.
4)The sensors will be controlled by the controller and the result will be display on the LCD and on the Mobile Application.
5)If there will any emergency circumstances the system will generate the alarm and warning.
Project Implementation Method PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION METHOD:Our project is Mine Monitoring System which we are going to design for the labors who works in the mines.
In our project we are using different sensor i.e.
1.For Temperature Monitoring we use DS 18B20.
2. For Humidity Monitoring we use BME 280.
3. For Oxygen Level Monitoring we use Denso 234-4261 OE.
4.For Hazard Gases Monitoring:
i. For Methane we use MQ-4.
ii. For Carbon Mono-oxide we use MQ-7
5. For Smoke we use MQ-2
6. For Light Intensity Control we use UV Sensor and control through Light Dependent Resister LDR.
All Sensor are analog and checked precisely calibrate and read through ADS devices with interface with microcontroller unit of AT Mega series controller and display on Nextion TFT HMI LCD.
We are also using ZigBee which will be used as a Wi-Fi module to transfer all the readings and data locally from one place to another at a long distance. As the mines are pretty depth so we use TCP/IP to transmit data form one place and receive it at another place where we have a receiver end system.
Benefits of the Project BENEFITS OF OUR PROJECT:Coal is one of the important fuels used for electricity generation, steel production, cement manufacturing and as a liquid fuel, also to produce syngas by gasification process. So as to extract this coal, which results into a great importance to the coal mining industry. A large population in the world depends on these coal mine industries for its livelihood. For this, they have to work in various dangerous conditions in the coal mine. A single, small accident can cause the death of the mine worker/workers.
So, our project will help to protect and save the life of labors. It will help to monitor and control the inner atmosphere and environment and warn the labors in case of emergency.
This makes the Coal mine as a safety mining and the major disaster preservation are effectively solved through our project.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable TECHNICAL DETAILS OF FINAL DELIVERABLE:Our project is Mine Monitoring System which we are doing to design for the labors who works in the mines.
In our project we are using different sensor i.e temperature, gases, light intensity, smoke and oxygen level sensor . Among these sensors some are analog, some are cl communication, and some are on i²C communication.
In order to make the analog sensors most preside we convert them into 15 bit analog to digital convertor through ADS Device.
For all project implementation that are done we have design a controller card which have an specific range.
Mine safety system for monitoring mainly adopts the wired communication mode. However, because of the particularity of the environmental condition, wired communication mode is difficult to realize the full coverage of the mine and lacks a good flexibility and expansibility. Mine monitoring system based on the Internet of things which uses the combination with wired communication mode and wireless communication mode(ZigBee) by making full use of the existing Ethernet as backbone network and realizing the full coverage of the mine through wireless sensor network which could cover the crossings and the branches of the tunnels.
